I know this isn't what most people view social democracy as and that's not what they refer to when they say the words, but it's basically capitalism in decline/incline

From a socialist perspective it's a move towards capitalism, because of removal of power from the workers and shift towards private property

From a capitalist perspective it's a move towards socialism, because of regulations and mandatory welfare that take away a chunk of profits

Both want to get rid of it. So it's probably not something that can last.

True, it's an opportunity to educate people, especially those living in the Nordic countries or European Socialist democracies, who are being failed by that system, so that they hopefully go further left and not right.

Why do I real comments on these videos.

"Democratic socialism, whilst not perfect is far better than all pure greed based capitalism."

"Every EU country is living proof of that. But apparently, American conservatives don't like cold, hard statistical evidence"

"Because Europe is not the model the US looks up to. It's Russia and China."

"We're more familiar with the term "social democracy" in the Nordic countries."

"but so then. Don’t elect people like Reagan or Trump and there won’t be a problem"

"Okay. But we need to distinguish between socialism & social democracies, which is what most European countries are. I support the latter, not the former."

Liberals know, they just think the issue is lack of democracy and authoritarianism, and you can solve this by... voting.

I think asking yourself why do you indulge in media that portrays an opposing worldview is a much more interesting question, than asking what media one should consume.

Does it mean we should all become free speech absolutists and allow Austrian painters book to be places in our bookshelves?

No, but I would argue something is deeply wrong with our society, if reading that book converts someone to a nazi. Same as that there is something deeply wrong with out society if playing 40k does that to someone. If banning this media means we can eventually create a society where this doesn't happen then sure I'm not opposed to it, by itself it doesn't seem to work if I take a look at what's happening in Europe right now.

Like take for instance why I found the 40k setting peculiar myself. It's a world filled with perpetual misery, caused by all the worst human qualities. Arrogance, greed, ignorance, haltered, zealotry and you can go on. Something about it tickles my funny bone, why would that make me wanna subscribe to a losers ideology? My own world is filled with perpetual misery, caused by it's own god emperors and people worshipping them. That's where I find it relatable.

Can you imagine how annoying this is when your boss starts using AI and thinks they've mastered it already. "We don't need to go through the process! Look this thing makes way more polished designs much faster than you silly! Just edit these a bit to make them look good and we're good :D"

And the thing is it's been happening even before AI, where choices are based on whatever gets the most clicks or the most watch time. AI just makes it much much faster. But people will get tired of the same old design, unfortunately we might end up in a world where, with no one left, who knows what made art beautiful in the first place.

A person needs to stop thinking like a liberal. There's no such a thing as a trustworthy source, only consistently truthful and verifiable source. It's basic science, it requires collaboration. You need to accept that you can be proven wrong at any time, that nothing is absolute.

But we don't do that, we make a news channel for Opinion A and news channel for opinion B and have them fight each other.

If the only thing that matters is changing an aspect of what they believe in, then yeah, find Gospels that agree with the worldview you're trying to push. But be prepared that they might find even more of them that disagree with your world view.

The same story is being told by nationalists in other European countries. They're using the same looking symbols that I'd describe as resembling runes, calling each other brothers from a fatherland.

They say it's diverse, but the context isn't just the same within the countries, it's the same across every country trying to reclaim these symbols. I really do not like how thick the air has become.

Birds eye view photo of housing in america

I never managed to wrap my head around these, yes low hanging fruit I know.

Recently I have tried to do this "touching grass" thing, again, and it's difficult. Any fleeting joy of participating in this thing we call society, the moment I notice a homeless person struggling, it just evaporates. How can I enjoy participating in social events when most of them involve exchange of goods that could have been used for the purposes of helping those in need?

Do I need to donate a certain % of my income and then I get a pass? Well I don't have an income, how much do I need to give then? Should I deduct a % of any money I get and set that aside for donations? Should I donate to local causes or international? Who gets the priority? Can I justify spending any money on things like a movie ticket to see a movie with friends, why so? What makes me more important than the person struggling on the street right next to the theater?

Are there any resources or guides you could point me towards? Is this something you've struggled with and found ways to cope with it? If so how have you managed?

(edit: I made an update in the comments. )

Big Tiger (hexbear.net)
submitted 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) by RedSturgeon@hexbear.net to c/furry@hexbear.net

This is something I sketched up while reading works of Mao.

The big tiger is supposed to represent the approaching danger, while the goldfish is a nod to Alexander Pushkin's work, with the implication that our greed for never ending wealth is what made the tiger grow so big. But there in lies the opportunity to reset and start a new.

Will those who come after us decide to be better? It's up to them to decide.

Life is a series of contradictions, an over-used truism, often used by people during difficult times.

You try to do the right thing and listen to everyone and you are sure to offend almost everyone, you'll be honest and people will call you a liar, but why is that? Was it always like this?

I don't know. The only thing I know is how little is truly known. But even so, there's people before me who did their best to try make sure I am able to experience joy in life, there will be people who come after me who will appreciate my actions, even if they don't know who I was.

The fact that nobody coming to save you isn't so hopeless, once you realize that to everyone, most people are a nobody.

I have a history of being notoriously demanding. Because of the circumstances I was living in I had became politically minded by the time I was entering middle school, but because I didn't have an outlet to make a difference and all I could do is personal lifestyle changes. My life has become an endless critique of exploitation, both internally and externally.

I have effectively removed myself from society, as much as I'm able to, and continue to remove myself more. I spend most of my time trying to push others in the same direction. It never really works out. Nobody really likes being around me, either because they don't take me seriously and assume I am faking it to get attention or because I'm so harsh, it's just not fun at all to be around me.

I can't critique myself out of being too critical. I have to actually go out there and get a hobby, actually learn what's it like to be a person. What keeps me from doing so is the idea that if I let myself enjoy life, I'll abandon those in need. But in reality I end up dehumanizing the very same people, who I claim I wish so much to protect. Just because I don't do it for personal gain doesn't make it any better.

I need to be better. Also I'm stepping away from the keyboard now, to try to do something different, so if I messed up somehow that's why I am not responding.

It's installed for your safety, don't touch it. jerma-unhinged

I think it ended up being a bit more intimidating than I had hoped for, but I'm gonna go with confident instead.

( Been down in the gutter lately, so lemme pretend to be strong please :P вобсем пиздет друзя, всё будет хорошо. ) crush

When someone says the c word

Yes there is a statue of Lenin on the table. I will not tell you if that's something I actually have, but you might guess.

Why choose to be temporarily embarrassed, for the sake of a possible future, when we could be spending our life doing what we care about now.

Have you ever felt like you need to go, but you're not really sure where, you're not really sure if the walls are closing in or if it's just your imagination.

Don't worry, it's not a lethal wound.
