honestly it might be an effective strategy for keeping trump off his back, winning him over with a little charm.
Sheinbaum has been effective with it
The big difference is that Sheinbaum is the president of a sovereign country that, while being dependent on the United States, also holds significant bargaining chips that can be leveraged against Trump. Mamdani has no such leverage so I think they aren't comparable.
Its comparable in the sense of "trump doesn't care about anything policy wise besides his he felt about the last person he talked to"
Not to overintellectualize Trump or fall into the Varoufakis trap of thinking everything is 5D chess, but I don't think it's good strategy to assume your enemies ignore material reality in favor of vibes.
Partly agree but he's also a very foolish person from everything I've seen in the past decade
If anything i think this only makes the case for Mamdani and Trump meeting stronger
