Ehhh, I'm not so sure about that. DVD has been joking all year that it would be hilarious if he died Dec 10-12 so that he just barely didn't make it.
I will agree there's a difference between DVD joking about it, and some rando.

.... Genuine question: what was the pun?
I have been considered an honorary dad due to my DadHumor, and I can't find one.
I think the pun is that "Sick Man Died" sounds vaguely like / rhymes with Dick van Dyke.
Spoiler: it's not a very good pun.
Well, you're certainly correct in your assessment of the pun's quality.
I'm not a fan of slant rhyme even when it's close, so it's even less effective on me I guess.
