It's funny that people internalize advertisement as the entire world of other people trying to force them to do something. That's actually one or two companies invading your internet space to convince you to buy something. It's not even cultural dominance. The game awards are a corporate affair, a big commercial.
If people don't have a socialist explanation for how things work, then they are left to make this shit up.
