BVWSC December - 24. December 2025
2-pass head shave, really smooth and comfortable.
Today it's Christmas Eve and what better time to shave with a gifted soap?! For BVWSC we're using a soap by an artisan that's totally unfamiliar to me - I've never heard of Wooly Wash Soapery before. The generous sample was provided by @snooting@sub.wetshaving.social - Thanks again!
"A Night at the Pub" has some interesting notes of bourbon, oak, fruit cake, bay leaves. For me the bay notes are very dominant and it reminds me of german gingerbread, "Lebkuchen". So it's very season appropriate IMHO. The soap was quick and rather easy to lather, I was pleasantly surprised. It has pretty good primary and residual slickness and the lather had a nice shine to it. The scent strength was on the medium side, not too cloying and not too faint. My razor glided nicely through it...
~~I'll probably provide further details soon, I'm sitting at my break at the nursing home.~~ Further details: I love how everyone of us has some kind of fitting seasonal food or drink in mind when smelling this soap: Christmas sweets, Lebkuchen, Pfeffernüsse, mulled wine... as a german, I quite agree with snooting's Pfeffernüsse-adjacent smell. It probably fits even better than Lebkuchen/gingerbread. I'm honestly impressed by the soap, this was a very nice and smooth shave with terrific slickness. Thanks for this cool opportunity, snooting!
To everyone: Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to those who celebrate!
FYI, adding
---in your markdown makes the line above it into a Heading level 2 (see here https://www.markdownguide.org/basic-syntax/#alternate-syntax).It doesn't bother me, but if you're interested in making your posts display better in the PieFed web front end, now you know! It doesn't seem to affect mobile apps or Lemmy, so it's just PieFed that respects that particular markdown code.
Oof, thanks for the catch walden! I wasn't aware of that Markdown occurrence in PieFed, in Lemmy/Voyager app it adds a neat slim line below the SOTD. I'll avoid using it in the future. Merry Christmas to you & your family! 🎅🏻
Merry Christmas!
I mentioned it to the PieFed developer because it doesn't seem like a standard markdown thing. Who knows!
