Legitimately one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read. Western China-watchers are constantly going on about Xi’s personal ambitions to take Taiwan (nonsense), or going on about ‘Putin’s War’, but we’re the ones who see things through the lense of individual “great men”?
It definitely feels like
All I EVER hear from Libs is how "if this one bad man goes, everything would be fine", without realising these people are in power with the support of the political class surrounding them.
I've seen Xiposting but I've never seen anyone who calls themself communist praise Putin
There was a bit around the online discourse regarding the breakaway republics in Donbas but it was more a flash in the pan, or some sort of tangential thing to the rhetoric about Nazis in Ukraine
I've probably praised Putin a few times for successes in the SMO, but my opinion of him is still negative overall for all of the ceding ground to reactionaries and capitalists in Russia, war crimes, and in general being a centrist lib.
I also don't exactly consider myself a communist so I guess this isn't a counterexample.
I think "Putin is smart" is the most I've seen, yeah. He's no dummy
well he genuinely thought NATO would let him join lol
That's because he assumed NATO would do the logical thing of making sure Russia's huge resource rich territory and strategic location wouldn't help their other rival China by getting Russia on their side.
Throwing a tantrum and forcing Russia to get closer to China even though they would have happily sided with them just because the NATO ghouls were still salty about Putin not letting them turn Russia into a cheap labor vassal and loot its resources was objectively a stupid thing to do, hence why someone thinking about geopolitics logically would have had trouble seeing it coming.
Not letting Russia into the imperialism club was a huge strategic mistake in terms of maintaining capitalist hegemony. But was also an inevitable product of capitalist greed - NATO ghouls didn't want to share the imperialism, they wanted to subject Russia to it too. The logic was simple - line go up was more important than long-term stability.
Thankfully, that greedy decision seems to be seriously leading to NATO's downfall in the long run.
In one sentence they bemoan demcen as anti democratic and in the next they say we operate on great men and not on parties and social forces. It's classic fascist doublethink. The enemy is both weak and strong. Tankies love one party systems and centering the whole country on its communist party, but tankies also love individual party leaders and admire a strongman dictator if he's wearing commie symbols and his throne is painted red.
They don't know what democratic centralism means, don't give them that much credit.
They don't have to know what demcen is to insist they don't like it. They just never actually call it democratic centralism.
But yeah, no, none of these people know what those words mean, true. If you say that phrase you won't get anywhere. It's funny just how often they'll scream about the horrible ways socialist one party systems work, then turn around and complain that their own country's political parties can't handle their disagreements internally and present a united front.
As opposed to liberals
who don't do cult of personality
