Giving the ICE a platform to cry about how they're "threatened" by the public for things the public has every right to be enraged over is peak manufacturing consent. Who gives a shit what they think or how they feel after they kidnap and murder people?
Imagine if a German newspaper published an article like this about the SS during the holocaust, just letting the fucking extermination camp commanders vent about how everyone hates them now. Oh wait, that probably happened.
This article isn't documenting the atrocities of ICE, it's uncritically repeating what ICE is saying about the atrocities
It's not commentary though, it's reporting - they made a claim (Ice hated, agents terrified) and then the rest of the article are examples of ice doing and saying things that support that claim. They're not condemning it because that isn't their goal, the goal is to show evidence of ICE's response to being widely condemned and generally reviled for being violent tools of a fascist state.
