Yeah, but I know some pretty smart dumb people and some pretty dumb smart people. I don’t think it’s IQ thing, at least alone (don’t event really buy the whole IQ thing).

Sure IQ has been misused a lot but IQ can still be used to estimate the demographic distribution of a population on one axis. Since it’s sort of normally distributed. Like BMI it should not be applied to individuals. It just shows how many people of a population deviate from the mean. And yes it’s not IQ alone, but still telling that those numbers are close.
