"The most important thing right now is to vote for the pro-ICE candidate to get Trump out of office."

I wonder how many dems running in 2026 will actually say stuff like "I'm a proud democrat. But we need border security. When I was in the Marines we had a saying - 'Secure the perimeter...' "

Given the number of military veterans that are coming out of the woodwork to run under the dem ticket while centering the need for more ~~treats~~ benefits for veterans, it feels like we're at the most mere months away from this happening.

I already know of one candidate who said "we need a strong border because without borders we aren't a country"

And I'm thinking "so what?" I don't get patriotism at all. It's a chunk of land I was born in, big whoop!

I must have been thinking of that subconsciously.

Ninja edit. I googled to find out who said it but - in a shocker - google was shit. Whatever I searched for - google insisted on "helping" me by giving me republican results. Even when I used -republican to tell it to fuck off with that shit.

Ninja ninja edit. The best result I found was from Minnesota Senator Tina Smith: "Clearly, I see a role in our country for strong border security..." But she's surely not the answer although she's another dem shit.

God - I fucking hate google. I was almost tempted to use AI because I just want the answer. But opening Pandora's box - even just lil - seems like a bad idea. Very, very bad.

It's someone local and I'm working on pulling this person into a better position.

A lot of libs have no ideology besides some nebulous drive to "help people" which manifests in them co-opting more-right-wing positions without even thinking through them.
