Oh democracy, sweet sweet democracy. This is what I say to people (in an old timey thespian voice) when they say it's the cornerstone of Western freedom, followed by a list of the crimes that Western countries have committed whilst being "democratic".

Presumably someone voted for all that death and destruction.

"Are you saying that the Chinese or the Russians behave better than us, Westerners, currently, in your opinion?"

France was democratic for over 100 years and was a brutal, monstrous country to African nations for most of it (keeping additionally in mind it was France that first began attacks on Libya which culminated in America and NATO overthrowing Gaddafi; an event as recently as only a little over ten years old; ADDITIONALLY additionally they are most likely the country behind the attempts on Traore's life and who most likely overthrew the Haitian president who was demanding reparations)

If being a democracy makes you inherently good then the question has to be, since when have Western countries been democratic given our history with the global South?

Form of government =/= principles or system of morality
