Maybe if you're using it to refer to trans women.
But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about imaginary furry girls who were either born that way or magicked up a dick somehow.
My guy, trans women are real, objectifying depictions of them in fiction are imaginary. If you make a stereotypical and dehumanizing representation of a real group of people, I'm afraid that you can't just say "well, I made it up," and dissuade any criticism of how this relates to real world politics and its violence. Incredible porn-brained reasoning here.
edit: really starting to notice the influx of redditors on here.
i don’t know how to explain this in a way that won’t set you off any more, but the vibe of your instant hostility comes across as reddit behavior.
the previous commenter seems uninformed and you took that moment to lash out instead of trying to correct their misunderstanding.
So much gaslighter language that happens to be in a thread where many men are defending a transphobic slur, how curious.
Lemmy isn’t as trans-woke as it used to be. At least Lemmy World. All the major communities are basically Reddit. And the mods are just as power trippy.
It was just a trans power trip before, heh, at least there’s less of annoying people like Ada or the blahaj sect, who disserve the cause
conservatives feeling free to be transphobic on lemmy is a bad thing actually
Sure but it’s not all black or white
Yeah, men typically show up once something gets more populated and then act like they've always owned it. I wonder where they would learn to think like that and if it is at all connected to transmisogyny 🧐
There are trans men too, and they’re not immune to misogyny.
Notice the use of transmisogyny. What I said was specific.
Apologies, they’re not immune to transmisogyny either, in the same way cis women are not immune to misogyny. Parents are often the leading culprits in teaching or allowing misogyny to develop within their children. That’s mothers and fathers.
When I say misogyny I’m referring to all misogyny. Trans women do not exist in a vacuum.
Literally what you just said was transmisogynist, and I understand that many people who may be queer aren't necessarily educated on what the terms mean; and most liberals feel threatened by the potential of not already being morally pure by merit of "being a good person." Transmisogyny is a term that refers to the specificity in how trans women and transfeminine people experience misogyny, it isn't just a word that means "misogyny but for trans people." They don't need to "exist in a vacuum" to require language to articulate their specific experiences, and the term emerged exactly because those experiences are erased by people who would prefer trans women not be too loud or annoying about things.
Trans men do certainly experience, internalize, and reproduce misogyny in their own ways as well, but I'm not talking about them. You are under a thread that is filled with men explicitly advocating for the use of a slur against trans women because of their inability to reconcile their acceptance of that slur with their safe place of rabid sexualization and objectification of trans women in their goon porn. And no, it isn't "just parents" like people can have good or bad parents and be set for life, we are all socialized collectively to subscribe to patriarchy. This means challenging it is a practice we must all participate in, not some badge you get on your scout sash and forget about.
What you just said is a common TERF fascist talking point.
And furry futa women are not.
I'm sorry that you are just now learning that your porn world doesn't translate to real life.
Why would I want to translate it?
Apparently to spare yourself the debilitating pain of being corrected online.
Is someone in pain here?
Maybe I could recommend touching some grass?
Cool dude, you're fighting to your last breath in defense of "futa" and gonna try to gaslight people online into thinking they're exceptionally online. You know he's not gonna hear you, right?
BREAKING NEWS!!
Butthurt terminally online armchair trans ally discovers porn is all fantasy!
Oh, I gotta be an ally because if I was trans that'd mean all the bigoted liberals here are doing something distinctly transphobic instead of dunking on a hysterical SJW. Y'all really wear your worldviews on your sleeves.
Why are you assuming the depiction would be dehumanizing? Just how constrained do you want porn artists and their viewers to be? Bigoted and hateful porn exists, but so does porn with a progressive message, and the distinction is not which groups of people have been depicted.
If you want to focus on the word and move the euphemism treadmill along because it's become associated with offensive stereotypes, that's understandable, but you're probably not getting any closer by calling people r*dditors just for saying it. As porn tags go I think 'futanari' is overall on its way out, for instance you won't find it on the tag lists of e621 posts because the word is aliased to other tags and not used directly.
The right-wing wants to ban us from public life because they believe a woman having a penis is inherently pornographic, because that's literally their only exposure to us. It's not just about the euphemism treadmill, the way porn portrays us is actively making our lives worse. We're overly sexualized to the point that they believe they need to protect their children from us. It is dehumanizing.
Porn doesn't have to be this way, but to fix it there would need to be a total transformation of the entire industry and media landscape. It's a serious problem and no one wants to confront it, because they like their porn and don't want to give anything up.
That's all fair, and I can see how right wing porn memes contribute to that kind of problem. Trans women need more non-pornographic representation and not be automatically treated as fetish objects. Still, I think it's relevant that this is about something someone was saying about furry porn, which as a whole has pro-LGBT politics.
I don't think the politics of the porn can actually address the root problem, which is that we're seen as inherently pornographic. It's probably less bad for the porn to have good politics, but I don't know if that's actually the best solution to the problem. We need a lot more non-pornographic representation, but we probably also need less pornographic representation along with it.
The politics of the porn might even be irrelevant to the problem, because the problem is that our existence is X-rated. Whether the porn has good or bad politics won't actually change whether or not they believe we need to be kept away from children.
I don't know how much it would actually effect it either way but it definitely determines whether whatever narrative and characterization is present implies it. If it's furry porn it is way less likely to have the typical hentai theme of woman + penis = uncontrollable sexual aggression for instance.
porn-brained gooner: "Why do you assume my futa porn is dehumanizing, huh? Just because this trans woman is drawn explicitly to make my brain and pp go gaga doesn't mean she's being dehumanized, she's a futa, so, that's what they're meant to do."
Shuddup dude. Shemale and tranny porn is bad too btw, don't freak out.
Futa is not trans. Futa girls were not assigned male at birth. It's a different thing entirely.
Fuck eh, guess you can't get his approval now.
I'd say equating people's fantasies with real people is the real dehumanizing thing. Rational people are able to separate fantasy and reality... why arent you?
"Listen pal, just because you think my blackface is making fun of black people, that's on you. This is my own dark-urban elf character, Tyronicus, who just happens to also have red lips and is only in my story to be a member of a criminal organization which dark-urban elves like him love to do, that isn't based on anything in reality, and you're racist if you think so. It's also called gaslicking, BTW."
I don't know how you people can take yourselves seriously.
Nice rage baiting. Almost had me for a second, but nobody can be this detached from reality. Anyway, have a good day. I'm gonna crank one out to my futa porn on your behalf.
I know you chuds love soyjokes or whatever, I had exactly one on hand that flashed in my memory when I read this desperate plea for a woman's attention.
