Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

He loves to flex that he can go out in public, with no fear. When's the last time Trump made an appearance in public?

Trump knows he's not safe outside of his ivory tower.

I had that sort of thought myself not long ago. If Donald Trump just showed up in front of me out of the blue one day, would I try to kill him?

I don't consider myself a radical or revolutionary. I'm not gunning to be the next big-name presidential assassin to appear in the history books. I'm just a normal, everyday person trying to get by, one day at a time.

But I think I would. I dunno. Maybe a lot of other normal people feel the same way.

[–] djdarren@piefed.social 2 points 8 hours ago

I wouldn't try to kill him, but I'd certainly tell him that he's a cunt.

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 31 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I don't care if it would be my last action on this earth; I'd jump at the opportunity.

I've got people who count on me, so I can't be that impulsive. However, these people are members of vulnerable groups that MAGA hates and targets, so if something were to happen to them, I'd have nothing left to lose. At that point, I'd become very dangerous indeed, but I still wouldn't act impulsively. Tactical and surgical is the strategy.

Hah, well your username may be more relevant than mine, at least!

If he shows his ass, it's grass.

I had the opportunity in '24 while he was campaigning. I was alone in the room with him for about two minutes. He was repulsive and I refused to say a word to him beyond a brief introduction as I was escorted into the room. I had a sizable knife and a multi-tool on me at the time. My friends and family will never let me live down the opportunity I threw away, but I wouldn't have made it out alive. I'm realizing now, they're essentially saying they'd rather have him dead than me alive.

[–] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I would have assumed you'd be searched and stripped of any potential weapons.

[–] Cheeseballll1@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

They were tools I was permitted to have for work. We had a hard out time of 6pm the night before. We were directed to leave any tools on site. Gestapo swept the facility overnight. They're looking for guns and bombs. We were searched upon entering the day of the event. My tools were waiting for me when I came in. I was not searched again.

I work around targets like him once or twice a year and this is normal.

So... You're saying you might get the chance again...? 🙏

[–] Cheeseballll1@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

I'm using a throwaway account for a reason.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

you could have spared us all so much and for that i will never forgive you, person i have never met.

okay, i'm over it but YOU BLEW IT ALL UP! DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU TO HELL! fuck i got my wrong nerd rage going but you get it. one of these days we will collectively forgive you and then we will chuckle about it over a cup of, i don't know, boiled morning water i don't know what life is going to look like in 20 years

[–] Cheeseballll1@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can't say I've ever forgiven myself.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

i'd say forgiveness comes only through jesus but his mercy only extends so far. have you considered alternative religions? i can recommend some really fun cults

[–] scintilla@crust.piefed.social 3 points 23 hours ago

Heavens gate still has a sick website.

[–] Jesusaurus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well, you are likely on a list now 🫠

[–] HalfAFrisbee@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You say that like every single person that doesn't support them isn't on that list already.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 22 hours ago

yeah the list is just people who have not given him money in the last 6 hours.

If I met Biden in public, I would very much want to tell him in person:

  1. He was my last choice in the 2018 Dem Primary. I met him, shook his hand, thought him an idiot.
  2. He was a very good POTUS who (1) surrounded himself with competent people and (2) listened to them (the two most important abilities of any POTUS)
  3. He can still get close enough to Trump to bite down on The Tooth...
[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 21 points 1 day ago (3 children)

No Biden was the worse president ever because he didn’t fix every problem with America before Americans decided Trump needed a second chance.

Don't forget that he didn't fix everything with a 50-50 Senate

And my feet hurt and somehow that's Biden's fault too

[–] Quacksalber@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 day ago

Thing is, Trump doesn't even be around "normal" people. There's a reason why he owns golf resorts with astronomical membership fees (apart from earning money, of course).
