That has always been my trepidation with hardline anti-electoralism. Democrats suck and use this as an excuse to ratchet further right and we will never be able to elect communism; however, the far right will clearly capitalize on low voter turnout to seize more power and kill people. People are going to die either way and supposedly progressive dems will just as readily bring on brutal crackdowns, but Republicans are going to do that and persue genocide of everyone their grievance politics blames in persuit of Christifascist theocracy. Our votes don't matter, but our rhetoric does.
Pouring lots of your own time, money, and energy into electoralism is a dead end meant to waste your limited reserves of revolutionary energy, it'll burn you out for nothing. But empty posturing about not voting, or worse yet wasting time and energy to try to convince others not to vote, is also not going to really do much and has the effect of making us look indifferent to the very real fear people feel right now., over some dogmatic interpretation of anti-electoralism.
I say vote if you can, if it matters in your area, if it's not going to be a drain, especially if it lets you feel some modicum of control and if it keeps the libs around you from writing off your politics as callous. But don't get sucked into it and don't expect Democrats to do more than not be cartoonishly bigoted, it's merely just a low effort way to maybe deny outright fascists power while we try to build power outside the state. Wasting time and effort to campaign for "progressives" is just going to put people like AOC through the machine until they align with the party's and state's goals after draining us of an inordinate amount of time, labor, money, and other resources that could have been better spent on meeting people's material needs and creating problems that let us actually coerce corporations and governments to do what we want or else. Making Target applaud their own stores being looted, even insincerely, changed a lot more in a few months than decades of voting blue.
Electoralism is not the same as voting at all
