Six state governors have declared support for Texas so far: South Dakota Montana Oklahoma Florida Virginia Georgia

Holy shit the Republicans scaremongered about a non existent border crisis so hard they caused a constitutional crisis. That's so fucking wild and if a civil war (or any violence at all really) kicks off over this it will truly be an "again as farce" moment.

I don’t think the scaremongering has reached that point. Ammo and gun prices are still pretty much the same for the last couple years. If conservatives really believed some conflict was apparent, they’d fuck each other over by hoarding because they think they’ll be John Wayne or Nic Cage in Lord of War.

What I mean is that Abbot's whole reason for taking over a part of the border and running razor wire and fighting the border patrol is to stop a migrant wave that just isn't happening. Some people cross the border that way sure but the overwhelming number of undocumented migrants come through legal points of entry and overstay their visa.

you're saying that like they havent been buying and hoarding ammo since January 2009

The prepper types, for sure. But I imagine a significant amount of the population is delusional that their 1911 and mossbergs can take on the military in a civil war

To be fair the American military has never handled pissed off dudes with small arms even one time

We talk about stuff breaking people's brains, but "we're gonna build the wall and Mexico's gonna pay for it" has the chance to balkanize the US and I think that's so funny
