this seems like ridiculous bs. anyone who is trans and needs to transition will likely have their doubts erased as and when they start transitioning and realise it's what they needed all their life.

I might be misrepresenting it. Maybe it's the idea that you shouldn't be the first to bring it up to someone who's trans?
Generally it's a rather accepted thing to not call eggs actual eggs because for people that genuinely aren't there in their journey yet it might just send them the wrong direction.
