I remember this bozo. Still incredible to see.
"Orthodox" Marxist type people lmao
I'm not really sure how people end up like this. Just terminal internet politics poisoning and never logging off? Maybe this ideology could survive real-life contact with DSA?
You give this person too much credit. No way in hell they've ever actually read Marx. They saw a twitter thread about how Marx had "some good ideas, but his ideas are impractical at larger scales" and based his entire worldview off of it.
Yeah I've only ever heard a "pro"-Marx anti-Engels stance from liberals who heard it in a college class but have never actually read Marx.
I mean it'd take a tremendous amount of study to form a grounded opinion on a potential schism lol
Which reminds me of my favorite: one who claimed to be able to tell "where Marx died and Engels took over" in the fucking communist manifesto
lmao both of them wrote that together when they were like 28 years old
It's also what happens when idealists read the basic texts and assume Marxism is like their ideology and that it is prescriptivist. Marx said I'll reach a classless, moneyless society if I follow these rules - we need to vote these rules in! That evil tankie Engels talked about authoritiarianism - does he want a revolution?
No no, "libertarian Marxist".
Ohhhhhhhhh okayyy, that's definitely a thing that exists outside of universities and the internet and definitely needed to be distinguished from "other", corrupted Marxisms lmao
I wanna know what their problem with Engles is though lol
They don't read theory so their sole exposure to Engles is being told to read On Authority, so to them Engles is an evil redfash Stalinist who betrayed Marx's true socialism
That's probably exactly what it is lol
"I wanna know what their problem with Engles is though lol"
Have fun
Bonus from that link:
Essentially, it seems to boil down exactly as IMF_DOOM said.
Ohhh, that's great lol
Hehehe, @IMF_DOOM@hexbear.net called it before you even posted that
I get giggly whenever I see the username IMF_DOOM. It's just so good.
and just remember all caps when you spell the girl name
IMF_DOOM fans when their favorite neocolonialist project starts with a 12-minute long sample of a cancelled cartoon that ran for three days 34 years ago:
"When our turn comes, we will make no excuses for the terror." -- Engels, I guess
lmao
:picard:
When you're so desperate to be the Smartest Boy that your entire personality hinges on an ideal of aloof intellectualism, you end up like that.
Separating Lenin from Marx is stupid but still make some kind of sense at least since Marxist theory was already a functional framework long before Lenin came along, just incomplete. But Marx and Engles' theories are practically one and the same, separating them don't make any sort of sense so yeah, this guy is a bozo . I seriously doubt he has read anything beyond the manifesto and maybe principles of communism, and even that is still generous.
He's... been told to read On Authority. I guess he also read it, since he can boil it down.
