I have bought watches from Japan before and the packaging and presentation was outstanding. I also got a hand-written thank you letter! Such a thoughtful country.

[-] tox_solid@lemmy.world 30 points 11 months ago

Everything I've ever ordered from Japan comes with a lovely handwritten Engrish note and it makes my day every time.

[-] unsightlyme@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

What watches are you into?

This is obviously an elaborate viral marketing scheme by Casiopea

[-] PoopingCough@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago

Tbf Casiopea is ridiculously good if you're in to that genre.

[-] themoonisacheese@sh.itjust.works 15 points 11 months ago

Fine by me I just discovered the band is fucking fire 🔥

[-] tox_solid@lemmy.world 63 points 11 months ago

That album fucks. Casiopea is S tier.

[-] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago

Wow yeah, I just started listening. Love it. I'm listening to this while I work tomorrow!

[-] Meganium97@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 11 months ago

I got 5 seconds in and realized how HARD this shit slaps.

[-] yumcake@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

+1 Casiopea is incredible.

[-] spookex@lemmy.world 0 points 11 months ago

I still prefer T-Square, nothing beats F-1 Grand Prix World

[-] Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com 49 points 11 months ago

is this why y'all love weeb shit?

No, we just love the anime titties.

[-] ryven@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 11 months ago

Okay but can we take a moment to think about how good "Mint Jams" is as an album name?

[-] RGB3x3@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

According to the commenter above you, it's even better than that because it's an anagram of the band menbers' initials (IN, MM, TS, AJ).

[-] raltoid@lemmy.world 38 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

For reference, it's a really good band and Mint Jams is awesome! Specially if you like upbeat jazz with keyboard, synth, and electric guitar, sometimes sax.

Although a lot more people, specially weebs, have heard the first song on that album than have ever heard of the band. As it's common on playlists in the City Pop genre(if you like the first song, look up more city pop. )

Fun facts:

  • The album is actually remixed live recordings with the audience mostly removed and without re-recording/dubbing any instruments, and recorded with the intent to make studio quality. So it sounds amazing.

  • The "mint" part does in fact refer to the songs/album being "mint", meaning good. The "jams" part actually references that it's live recordings as well.

  • On top of that it is also an arragement of the band members first and last initials(IN, MM, TS, AJ).

  • Released in 1982 it was their seventh album, second live, and after having released ~40 albums in total. It is still considered their best.

I love the tonal shift to the casully offensive put-down of "weeb shit" at the end.

I have a strange craving for Japanese fusion jazz and tea

[-] Ciryamo@feddit.de 11 points 11 months ago

Can't help you with the tea but maybe with the music

[-] colin@lemmy.uninsane.org 11 points 11 months ago

wtf it's just not right to get actually good music recs from a greentext

[-] DauntingFlamingo@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 months ago

That was incredibly enjoyable. Thank you. I never would've looked that up myself, and after I listened to 40 minutes of jazz I am now relistening to it with my partner. We're making tea and jamming out!

[-] Woodyboye@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

Classic post. Probably one of my favorites of all time

[-] andres_os@lemm.ee 15 points 11 months ago

I bought this record immediately after finding it in a record ship in Japan because of this green text. It slaps as promised.

[-] Veritrax@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

Wow this album absolutely slaps. Thanks for bringing it into my life

[-] krnl386@lemmy.ca 6 points 11 months ago

I’ve had a similar experience myself. I bought a Japanese handcrafted knife.

[-] Drusas@kbin.social 2 points 11 months ago

The Japanese make some of the best knives, if not the best knives.

[-] jaschen@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

I bought Japanese condoms( they are called 001) and it feels fantastic compared to the rubber bands condoms we have here.

Each time it comes with gifts or extra condoms or both. I love Japanese people.

[-] Blaze@sopuli.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

Interesting, thanks

[-] Drusas@kbin.social 2 points 11 months ago

Japanese condoms are known for being great for sensitivity, but slightly smaller than American condoms. I mostly got complaints of tightness when I tried to share them with American men. Still, great condoms.

[-] jaschen@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

If you get the 001 but in L(large) it's basically the average American size. So that's what I use.

[-] sircashews@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

I’ve bought a few things from eBay that ended up coming from Japan mostly video game related and every time the packaging was fantastic. They didn’t all come with a note but two of them did and it was a nice touch.

[-] Surreal@programming.dev 2 points 11 months ago

Well now you guys are making me jealous I didn't get a handwritten note buying from Japan

[-] Creyapnilla@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago
