I was gonna say, you guys get YouTube ads? I'm still blocking them, so I'm still a target for Rick-rolling.

Are you sure your adblocker is working? I was having trouble with mine just yesterday when i found out ublock origin has an additional setting you need to click to keep blocking YouTube ads now
Heh, nice try. Sync for Lemmy saved me with their link preview.
But yes, sometimes you need to go into Ublock Origin's settings and manually update to stay ahead of YouTube's updates to their filter blocking.

I’ve just checked with my lawyer and there is no way you can get a penis to fit inside another penis, the size variance simply isn’t great enough between different penises
It's more of a sort of foreskin interlocking thing, really.

I always look up "rickroll no ads" because of this. Also it's a different YouTube url so those nerds who recognize the rickroll url won't recognize my link

I just see Rick Astley's face with a play button. The main issue is that modern browsers disallow playing sound without user interaction.

One of my favourite things about the rick roll is how much Rick Astley embraces it, rather than being salty that his song got memed. He seems like a great guy.
He did an AMA on Reddit, and someone successfully rick rolled him. It was glorious, and he took it in stride.
I'd imagine monetization of the video with tens of millions of views doesn't hurt.

Skill issue, just use a different video, no one said it had to be the official, monetized one.
Also if your target doesnt have ublock then maybe they dont deserve to get rickrolled 🤔
It's a privilege not a right.
Don't unmonetized videos still play ads sometimes? I seem to remember that being a really questionable conflict of interest issue a while back (because it would mean it's technically more profitable for youtube to demonetize your videos than monetize them).
You know the rules, and so do I.

convince other users to use piped.video or FreeTube
Long term solution:
convince creators to post on PeerTube
the second one will never work as there's no audience, nor money to gather on peertube
