Microsoft should launch a handheld gaming system based on The Duke.

You mean the second worst controller design after the N64?

Honestly though, who's hands are that big?

I wonder how odd that would feel in my hands today. I remember being blown away by it when I unpacked the OG Xbox.

Don’t let your dreams be dreams

This would be super exciting except Steam Deck has already probably fully eaten their lunch.

[–] TedZanzibar@feddit.uk 2 points 2 years ago

I think it depends what the price is. If they can make the experience compelling enough while (heavily) undercutting the Steam Deck then they may be onto a winner.

... Though being in the console market people will make comparisons to the Switch, so that might be their target price point.

Yep their best bet would be working on creating their game pass app for Linux/steam deck. With how awesome the deck is I would sign for it. Wouldn’t even bad hard to implement but m$ going to m$

With how awful the deck is...

Wut

[–] hedgehog@ttrpg.network 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Must’ve typoed “awesome”

[–] Animoscity@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Ha yep damn auto correct

I can't help but picture the original, massive as fuck Xbox controller with a screen on it.

[–] zigmus64@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

I’d be totally down. I had gotten used to the Duke controller in its massiveness, so I hated the S controller when it came out.

I generally dislike change.

Running Windows CE

[–] RightHandOfIkaros@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

There have been rumors about this forever. I would be very interested to see what they can do, but I also am not expecting to see one at all. Or they might make one that only streams, like the PlayStation one.

[–] Defaced@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Yeah no thanks, I've kicked my Windows habits, I don't need it anymore. I have no interest in this now that I have a steam deck.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 0 points 2 years ago

Eh. I'm happy with my Lenovo Legion Go playing Game Pass... and Steam... and literally everything else.

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The only way I would buy one is if it runs Gamepass, digital Xbox game purchases, and Windows, so I can run pc games too.

Anything less, it's a no from me.

[–] _sideffect@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

No windows please... Or you'll have endless useless updates every time and crashes and bugs

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I just don't want what the Playstation Portal is, just a streaming device from the xbox

[–] RGB3x3@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I'd guess they're going to integrate basically an Xbox interface and features into a handheld. Meaning it'll have game pass, cloud gaming, recording and sharing, and cross saving. And it'll very likely use your Xbox to stream from if you enable that feature because it's already a thing the box can do.

I doubt it'll be a full Windows handheld though, which I think may be a good thing.
