Fuck the Nazis and anyone who wants to be one

[-] tacosplease@lemmy.world 38 points 5 months ago

We should have never stopped punching nazis

[-] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 19 points 5 months ago

I didn't get that memo. Still punching

[-] andyburke@fedia.io 152 points 5 months ago

Takes a special kind of French citizen to wear a Nazi cap.

Just for historical record context, every country in Europe either had clown set up like this or at least some clown fucking sympathizers volunteering for the cause.

If Germany was gonna be this degenerate, than Japan did it too.

This is a human condition that requires a human solution.

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

yep. about 10% of all countries have some assholes who want authoritarianism.

At the very least.

[-] DarkDarkHouse 9 points 5 months ago

100% of countries have some assholes who want authoritarianism

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

Yes. I was trying to say it's about 10%

[-] Kwakigra@beehaw.org 11 points 5 months ago

Not that special, unfortunately.

[-] ganksy@lemmy.world 127 points 5 months ago

Here in the US they wouldn't even have the shame to drop out.

[-] CaptainEffort@sh.itjust.works 57 points 5 months ago

And a lot of people wouldn’t even care

[-] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 43 points 5 months ago

Unfortunately, far too many people would cheer it on a some sort of "own the libs" "joke"

[-] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.world 25 points 5 months ago

Exactly right. They might consider it initially, but then they'd realize that they got an increase in support from the MAGA base and they'd lean into it.

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 9 points 5 months ago

Polling bonus for triggering the libs.

[-] thorbot@lemmy.world 18 points 5 months ago

It would be a talking point if they were republican

[-] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

They would be smiling in their official public portrait while wearing it and throwing Heil Hitler arms

I really wish we could start treating Nazis like we used to

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 80 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

at least the candidate had the decency to be ashamed?

i know some ~~conservatives~~ fascists who would not be bothered by shit like this.

[-] pearsaltchocolatebar@discuss.online 15 points 5 months ago

It would boost their ratings.

[-] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 11 points 5 months ago

haha, "shame". No, I don't think it is shame. It's just grounds for legal problems

[-] umbrella@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 months ago

good point.

[-] synapse1278@lemmy.world 59 points 5 months ago

Make No mistake, every single one of the RN members would gladly wear a Nazi hat and behave as such, if they didn't have to appear reasonable to access power. They are a hateful and violent group. This party has been co-founded in 1972 by a former SS. Their plan for France is not to kick out migrants and reenforce safety, no, no, no. Their plan is to destroy freedom of speech and press, destroy education, destroy the "Rules of law" (L'État de droit), militarize police and racial cleansing.

[-] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 22 points 5 months ago

Its so weird that of all countries to infiltrate and corrupt, the country famous for rioting and executing leadership wouldnt really be high on my priority list

[-] shapesandstuff@feddit.de 54 points 5 months ago

Self reports are going strong lately for european fascists. Hope more follow suit

[-] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 22 points 5 months ago

Is this satire or for real? I can't tell anymore.

[-] AFC1886VCC@reddthat.com 17 points 5 months ago

They're all Nazis just with different branding.

[-] sunzu@kbin.run 12 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Sounds like Nazi's were too kind on the western front.

Where did she even find the hat?

[-] Stern@lemmy.world 22 points 5 months ago

Grandpa decided to move back from Argentina.

[-] Icalasari@fedia.io 11 points 5 months ago

Countries let some nazis live in exchange for research

Turns out that was a Bad Idea

[-] sunzu@kbin.run 10 points 5 months ago

US deff had these guys trying to white wash germany through 1970s and then their crotch fruit are still around spreading that shit.

https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/wehraboo

They are not nazis, they are "history enjoyers"

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 4 points 5 months ago

They're not white supremacists, they just "celebrate their European ancestry".

[-] Sensationalglyph@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Article elaborates, she took the photo at an arms market

[-] vfreire85@lemmy.ml 1 points 5 months ago

i'd have problems with that pic even if it was some sort of stalag kink.

[-] jaybone@lemmy.world 0 points 5 months ago

So is it possible this was done as some kind of joke?

[-] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 6 points 5 months ago

It's like you can't even be a rightwing fascist without people jumping to conclusions when you're photographed wearing Nazi memorabilia! This is cancel culture, which is clearly the worst problem in society. /s

[-] joneskind@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

I didn't know LeMonde has an English version. Nice

I'm honestly surprised she even bothered withdrawing. It's far from the first picture of a RN candidate in Nazi outfits we find. I'm glad but she did, but I'm surprised.

[-] SeattleRain@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

They need to get a better image consultant. She's quitting for the very reason she was appealingly to her supporters.

[-] yogthos@lemmy.ml 6 points 5 months ago

European values are showing again.

[-] hilly@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Honestly thought this was a picture of a Mighty Boosh character as I scrolled past. Be better if it was.

[-] Julien_catanese@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

she withdrew from the legislative candidacy today apparently.

[-] MadBob@feddit.nl 1 points 5 months ago

That solves that, then, I suppose?
