A female cardinal. They're chill.

[-] goldteeth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 2 months ago

Looks like a juvenile, too, based on the color of the beak and the general gawky teenager energy.

As an expert in bird identification, I can tell you with confidence...

That is indeed a bird.

[-] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 14 points 2 months ago

I don't have a good comment. I looked at the bird.

[-] Empricorn@feddit.nl 3 points 2 months ago

Fuck you. That is so accurate! 😆

[-] NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

That is one nice ass bird.

Thank you for your contribution.

[-] lunarul@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

That is one nice ass-bird.

That is a beautiful bird

…hey wait… where’s my wallet?

[-] flughoernchen@feddit.org 7 points 2 months ago

I did look and it's indeed a bird. Thank you.

[-] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I'm more serious about it than you. I'm watching that bird.

[-] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I can see your hands therefor you are not as serious about this as me.

@2ugly2live

"i shouldn't have to pick up my own food, where are the parents"-- deeply embittered Northern Cardinal fledgling

PS-- nice shot

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

That whole adjustment from "food gets put in my beak when I raise it" to "Food is at my feet and I lower my beak to pick it up" is a toughie.

[-] Empricorn@feddit.nl 6 points 2 months ago

It's either a bishop or a cardinal.

[-] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

The bird pictured is a bird that is good to look at.

[-] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 6 points 2 months ago

That is a right fit bird

[-] magnetosphere@fedia.io 5 points 2 months ago

Points for being straightforward. We can’t always come up with a clever title. And yes, I looked. Thank you!

[-] frickineh@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

That's a nice fuckin bird.

[-] watersnipje@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

Consider your bird looked at. It is a good bird. Nice long tail feathers and good solid munching action. 8/10.

[-] budgegeria@birdon.social 4 points 2 months ago

@2ugly2live Then let "bird" be the title

[-] Davel23@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago

That bird is amazing.

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Silly question: are they called cardinals because they look like they have huge hats?

[-] sentientity@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Looks like. Also,

A group of Northern Cardinals is called a "college," "conclave," or "Vatican."

[-] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

That’s one fit bird.

[-] asteriskeverything@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I would be so excited if I saw this bird up close! What a cool bird with their little Mohawk, bright eye makeup and accents. Punk AF.

[-] sentientity@lemm.ee 2 points 2 months ago

Precious creature.
