The 2023 victim fled from Russia with his father to escape being conscripted and dying in the Russian meat grinder, only to be violently killed by a shark at a paradise-looking beach in Egypt. That’s some Final Destination shit luck.
I didn't know that, he just wanted to get away, what a shame.
This indicates that, statistically speaking, sharks aren't dangerous.
Sharks have caused 7 deaths in some 50 years.
Cows have killed about 13 people in the Netherlands in a decade.
And 90% of statistics are made up on the spot.
Here’s what wikipedia says:
According to the International Shark Attack File(ISAF), between 1958 and 2016 there were 2,785 confirmed unprovoked shark attacks around the world, of which 439 were fatal.[16] Between 2001 and 2010, an average of 4.3 people per year died from shark attacks.[3]
Still very low, but nearly 100 times higher than your number.
Well yeah, my source was "count the red squares in the image"
The world is somewhat larger than the red sea area.
Is the only danger mortal?
Either way I'm not taking my chances 😅
If you find yourself in that region, the sharks may be the least of your concerns :)
Well, here I am.. should I call for help, or just try to swim away? 🥲
Well, I guess you are there intentionally, so enjoy yourself!
If you go swimming, stuff some raw steaks in your swimsuit. If a shark attacks, you can feed it the steak and it'll leave you alone :)
I plan on bringing waterproof tp with, incase I do see a shark 😅
There's a joke here about swimming, apex predators, balance of power and Nom Nom Nom, but I'm Too Tired to figure it out.
"When confronted by orcas, white sharks will immediately vacate their preferred hunting ground and will not return for up to a year, even though the orcas are only passing through"*
Doesn't sound like shark are apex predators.

I was thinking in terms of human vs shark apex predatory behaviour..
