oh btw @sweet_pecan@hexbear.net @jack@hexbear.net should i sign up for the action network if i'm already an applicant and volunteer? would it keep me apprised of a wider range of actions? i currently mostly just rely on ppl i know giving me the heads up about shit, + following party social media stuff.

I was actually discussing this today in a recruitment meeting. A lot of branches, like mine, need time to onboard the influx of new applicants. It can't be done hastily or at all once. That means some current applicants could be waiting for months. Comrades in a branch are responsible for keeping in touch with all those people and evaluating them for candidacy, and it's easier to do so if you join the Action Network. You'll have a consistent means to engage with party work, familiarize yourself with the organization, and you'll demonstrate your seriousness to the comrades, which is important in prioritizing recruits. We can't be taking on flaky people, basically.

So, I'd encourage you to sign up. If you're positive you want to join, it'll prepare you for that. If you aren't, it'll help you figure that out.

This is for people for whom full membership in the party isn't the right fit. Maybe that's a matter of capacity or maybe it's a political disagreement that would make adhering to all of the party's positions difficult or uncomfortable. Or maybe you're in an area with no party presence and can't take on the very high-effort task of building a branch. Whatever it is, this is a way to build a consistent relationship with the PSL that includes organizing, education, and financial support for the party's work.

Throughout every historical revolution, the vanguard party, even when it becomes a mass party, is never a majority of the oppressed classes. It isn't intended to be, and many of the people who play a role in the revolutionary movement will exist on the periphery of the party, supporting its work without joining.

I'm a very serious communist so I give $50k to my branch every month. I'm proud to take on the debt.

[-] CutieBootieTootie@hexbear.net 15 points 3 days ago

Without doxing myself, I'm planning on entering my new career in 2025. I know it's not very revolutionary, but I plan to join PSL as a member after I'm secure in my position.

[-] pierre_delecto@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago

I have filled out their web form to talk to someone about joining up and I'm just getting 403 errors

[-] jack@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago

Your best bet in that case is to directly contact your local branch. Let them know you're having application errors but you're very interested in joining. Instagram is usually the best way to do so.
