It’s been long enough, I find myself really missing Matt’s voice. I never really followed his CushVlog - mostly because there was other stuff I wanted to get through when he was putting those out, and I’m also not great with sitting down and listening to YouTube videos.

So I’d like to watch some episodes, but I also don’t really want to slog through all of them. Do you all have any episodes that you like and can recommend?

There's a "best of" compilation I'm pretty sure. Also all the "history is a weapon" things he did with sean kb

That subseries has been renamed "Strokes of Genius".

But on a more serious note, I do further endorse the History is a Weapon rec. Just wanted to repeat the joke from a recent Antifada.

I liked his review episodes of Black Jacobins and of The Dawn of Everything, especially since he offers some pointed critiques of them. Each book has multiple episodes.

I preferred the earlier stuff, maybe because of the vibe at the time, but also because some of the later ones got weirdly religious.

Yeah a lot of it is informed with his past neuroticism over his health and fear of death (justified in the end). I don't quite get his afterlife beliefs, but I do like his characterisation of economic modes as essentially ways to manage who must feel pain in class societies.

in case you haven't been listening, he was on the most recent ep of the pod. he's a slower on the draw, less ranty than he was before, but he's still funny

How is Matt doing these days? Has he made much of a recovery?

He was on a recent episode of Chapo! He didn't speak like a ton, but it was cool to see!

He spoke a lot more than I expected him to do, and he also did some really classic Matt jokes/mini rants, so I'm glad he's recovering.
