Love the casual sexism of the wife having to look like she's ready for hosting a TV show while her Hubby™ can get away with the signature "been playing War Thunder half naked to 10 hours straight and guests are coming" look

"for the last time Patricia, it's called a MAN cave, not a goon cave, and the only thing i've been cranking is the level on my Sturmpanzergezetzbetriebungwagen. up. cranking the levels up. what? I already did the dishes last week. take a shower? no, I don't think i smell like ball sweat and coffee breath. it's only your parents Patricia, we see them every couple of months. Mackayden can vacuum the living room, can't you, buddy?"

i wish i understood why they always want to go barefoot.

they're either dressed up really nicely in three piece suites or expensive dresses like wedding pics with nothing on their feet or they're dressed up in layers that include sweaters so it's cold like in this pic, but barefoot nonetheless.

Wearing shoes inside is weird

gamer socks only

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

socks without shoes is weird and traps in foot sweat. shoes indoors is gross. barefoot or slippers (the open toe kind, not the fluffy kind) is the only way

[–] Darth_Reagan@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

I'd rather my feet not be cold

on a normal day: sure

on a day when you hire a photographer and go through the extra effort of looking better than you ordinarily do to commemorate a special occasion: wtf

Still kinda odd to wear shoes inside. Why not be barefoot? That's how people usually are while inside.

This thread has got to be parody. There's no way you can possibly be upset by that photo. They're not doing anything.

I think it brings to mind a real phenomenon of WASP types humble-bragging about their affluent lifestyles on social media. The father usually being in some sort of finance/insurance/tech field that is disproportionately white due to systemic barriers to entry. These types are the epitome of privilege yet the most oblivious to it, with long Facebook posts bragging about their happiness while lecturing about why this is the best of all possible worlds. I think every part of the US has this type of family but it’s especially common in the Bible Belt. (I point out the US because to me this family is obviously from US.)

All that said, I agree with you. This is really low tier content. A Christmas photo is extremely common in US, and nothing in this photo indicates that any of the above applies to this family in particular. It’s a random white family with no context. Many nonwhite families in the US would take exactly the same photo for Christmas.
