Is there any evidence that Musk is right about Poland only paying "a tiny fraction of the cost"? Seems a strange comment to make

There is no substitute for Starlink"

The fuck did he think militaries use before 2020?

Abandon fucking Starlink and use Eutelsat. Poland should also stop buying US made weapon systems.

TBH I think any more low orbit telecom satellite arrays than we already have are just going to become a huge problem in the following decades.

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 week ago

Starlink is already being a problem currently, and it's not even fully deployed

Isn't it really frightening to let a super rich ketamine infused buffoon get this much power?

Nationalize SpaceX and deport Musk to South Africa where he belongs.

(Ok maybe nationalize it under the next administration.... if there is a next one)

I was tricked by Musk into believing his lies before he started to endorse Trump 2.0. I feel stupid now. The sociopathic tendencies are undeniable.

[–] Syd@lemm.ee 17 points 1 week ago

I remember a comment on Reddit from someone claiming to belong to Musk's PR team that said they worked incredibly hard to cultivate his image. But they had just been fired as Musk was tired of being controlled, and kept from doing and saying crazy things. This person said the world would soon see just how much of a. all-around monster Musk really was. I didn't believe them at all at the time, Musk was a genius who was going to save humanity! It really makes me wonder about the actual person behind most of these figures and celebrities.

I don't like Putin, but he's a black belt judoka additionally trained in combat by the russian secret services.

He could fuck that misshapen walrus pool toy without even getting out of breath.

Putin is just as full of shit as Elon is.

Mofos couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag.

Isn’t OneWeb constellation is debated until Iris2 is available?

But we should reconsider the SpaceX launch contracts.

[–] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de 18 points 1 week ago (3 children)

They’re both targeted towards commercial or government business, which is unfortunate from an individual subscriber perspective. I would love to see a euro competitor to Starlink and Kuiper, so I can unplug my Starlink.

Iris2 looks like a traditional Euro project with a dozen companies from different countries involved, to make sure the funding isn’t concentrated in one country. SpaceX has the advantage of improved integration in comparison.

blast every single one of them shits out the sky. it's an eye sore and he's the small man.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Starlink is just putting up cubesats with basic programming variations. The EU space agency can easily provide a competitive service that values freedom and democracy.

Eutelsat!!!

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

There are already alternatives. Use a mixture of them so they compete with each other for your business. https://www.wired.com/story/starlink-replacement-ukraine-eutelsat-oneweb-project-kuiper-amazon-iris2-elon-musk/

As soon as possible ban Starlink for security, spying risk.

[–] MITM0@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (5 children)

So Hughes-Net & ViSat aren't a thing ? They're satellite internet companies probably based in Europe, but I could be wrong. (I probably butchered the names)

Also, how rich of Elon, a man whose existence is propped up by government funding to bark & bite the hands that feed them

[–] ObsidianZed@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (6 children)

An alternative sure, but not in the manner. StarLink is already filling up the air space and producing a ton of new space debris. It needs to die with an entirely different alternative.

I wouldnt be suprised if putin beat his ass. They both might be old decrepit fucks but putin has martial arts training at least. This response to one of my countries government officials is also what pushed me over to finally dropping as much american everything as possible.

Elon Musk's atoms are poorly arranged for maximizing utility to the human race and would be better served if they were rearranged into fertilizer for feedcrops. At present they are just in a cloud of un-thought. Utilitarianism must be respected.
