What about the old alliances from Canada, the UK, or Europ...oh, oh, yeah.
No, don't worry, FatFucks best mate Putin will step up and help!!

Aren't the US still friends with Japan? Or at least doesn't needlessly dunk on them?

Tariffs don't break alliances. Did the US threaten to invade them already?

(But well, anybody that wasn't directly threatened has got the hint too, so no need to rush.)

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 days ago

Wait, alienating former allies is part of the plan?

[–] funbun@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The majority of Americans side with our allies. Even those that voted for trump. But this is our mess to clean up. What we need is informational aide. Truth and facts are being held hostage by corporate sponsored social media. Im glad lemmy can answer that call. But we need a coordinated effort to take down zuckerfuck, elmo, and fuckspez propaganda machine.

[–] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The majority of our populace reads at roughly a 5th grade level. Now add a coefficient of technology divide.

Education is a long-haul strategy, and the right wingers have been destroying it for at least 40 years. There's no way to quickly turn that around.

[–] funbun@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

To be fair the division stems from sininster algorithms. Each individual's internet reality is vastly different from one to another. If you're constantly bombarded with propaganda from one side, its fair to assume your opinions will be reinforced or begin to lean one way or another.

Facebook is especially sinister. They essentially have turned the asch conformity experiment into a social media platform.

Basically using your friends, favorite celebrities, and peers to influence your views. They even have fake accounts that appear to look like they are from your local community.

I don't think federation per se would help dissolve disinfo bubbles. Just look at the bubble the tankies at Grad have created for themselves.

New beacon, who dis?

[–] CyberEgg@discuss.tchncs.de 23 points 2 days ago

WTF! Is everything flammable on the US?

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago

As a Californian, yes. Except maybe the Toyota Tacoma, but those trucks are weirdly durable.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Lot of plastic in those McDonald's signs

[–] mmddmm@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Plastic doesn't have to burn that well.

Plastic used around electronics isn't allowed to burn that well in most of the world. And plastic in large outdoor structures shouldn't burn that well either.

most of the world

let me tell you a thing or two about Murica and regulations you commie

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

I work in signs, and the stuff we put up now is fairly fire-retardent...the stuff we take down, not so much.

I'm going to the Grey Havens and fucking off to Valinor. You are on your own guys.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 13 points 2 days ago

I think this is from the fire in Los Angeles this January. The hot wind was 100mph (160km/h) and made the embers fly for great distances.

We fucked yo.

[–] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Yes! Please help!

I don't do social media outside of Lemmy so I can't understand why Facebook and Twitter destroyed the minds of my countrymen.

I wouldn't mind immigrating, but what country will take a mid level front end developer in his 40's?

I'm from Texas; I like Mexico and Canada. Why would I want to start shit with the neighbors?

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Sure that's a beacon and not a balrog?

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

With the comma splice so you know it's authentic.

Yo. Dats pretty lit!

Ramirez, protect the Burger Town!

Putin clearly hollowed the country out on purpose. He also accidentally dealt a major blow against neo-liberalism

[–] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

And who will answer? The orcs?
