Transcript:

I'm officially unemployed. Today I was RIF'd from the government. It's such a surreal and humbling moment; one that I knew was coming but secretly thought and wished would never happen. I started working for SBA in 2010 during my senior year of college. I came in as an emergency hire and was placed on the student career experience program. I worked in accounts payable for 14 years before moving to contracting in October. I worked remotely since 2017 when I was placed on a reasonable accommodation after shattering my kneecap while walking into work. I worked countless hours from different hospitals I was inpatient in from 2017-2023. I relied on work to get me through many difficult times in my life while I was alone in the hospital or angry at the universe. It kept me mentally sane for many years and gave me a purpose in life. I took a lot of pride over the team I managed and the work that we produced. I wouldn't change one thing about my federal career and hope one day I can continue it.

For now, it is time to figure out what is next for me. To all my fellow government workers, I want to say it's been a privilege being able to work with you. The government is full of a lot of highly intelligent and hard working individuals. I know that we will all be ok after the dust has settled and make a game plan for what is next. I have met so many great people in the government and hope the best for everyone!

For everyone that knows someone in the federal workforce, please check in on them. This is a scary and sad time for most of us and we are not ok at the moment and are faced with some scary unknown challenges that we have not faced before.

You know that makes me most Furious about that statement. That I know we will all be okay part. She doesn't know that. Odds are someone's not going to be okay. In fact it's almost guaranteed. Someone's going to lose their home over this. Someone's going to go hungry over this. Someone's kids are going to go hungry over this. Someone's going to lose Health Care protection and maybe die from this directly. She blithely assumes that everything's going to be okay when she has no fucking idea and should know better.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 102 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Kind of shows how privileged she is by saying they're facing unknowns they've never faced before. She voted for Trump to hurt others and now that she's getting hurt, she's very quick to point out just how human her and other government workers are

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 months ago

If she was really an in-patient for a shattered knee for years, she’s way more privileged than most (just the government funded healthcare alone is super privileged).

I hope she’s ok, but if she was really a trumper than she deserves to be charged what the rest of us would have to pay for all that healthcare.

[–] mean_bean279@lemmy.world 38 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The Great Recession was a blood bath of people trying to kill themselves too. We literally let one dude cause all this pain and suffering because his followers are fucking stupid.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 23 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And a bunch of fucking shitheads didn’t vote at all.

[–] reiterationstation@lemm.ee 8 points 2 months ago

But 78 million people are larger than many countries on earth. At some point we need to face the discussion about how 78 million actually don’t deserve and will not take this bullshit anymore.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago

Considering how the US economy looks right now, very few people are gonna be okay (mostly the rich ones).

[–] Tramort@programming.dev 8 points 2 months ago

Exactly this

[–] polycrome@lemmy.world 53 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I have found that 'apolitical' and 'moderate' actually means 'conservative, but doesn't want to have to defend their position or look bad.'

Only those with detestable politics detest talking politics.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yeah she had no problem posting Trump supporting messages until she entered the Find Out stage.

[–] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

This is especially true in dating apps. Glad I only use those for entertainment now. 😂

[–] protist@mander.xyz 39 points 2 months ago (5 children)

I view this as positive change. Why do you think she'd delete all those posts? If someone changes their mind about Trump, or realizes they've made a mistake, you need to respect them and celebrate them. Rubbing it in their face or trying to make them feel like shit is not going to accomplish anything productive

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 51 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Rubbing it in their face or trying to make them feel like shit is not going to accomplish anything productive

This approach is the primary cause of everything getting worse. Didn't punish the south enough for the civil war, so we got James Crow laws and other horrible shit thrown at black people to this day. Didn't punish Nixon, pretended everything was fine with all the other shit stains instead of holding them accountable.

No, this lady should be vilified for what she did. Letting her hide it just means that she can act like she is in it with everyone else when she lit the house on fire. All these MAGA supporters need to be shamed in public permanently.

[–] Lenny@lemmy.zip 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Maybe it’s time to start giving them something they can’t take off/down

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

"And when you go home, are you gonna take those posts down?"

"..."

"Yeah, that's what I thought. And that is something I just cannot abide."

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I vote this!

[–] ThirdConsul@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 months ago

Villified? No. We have a sound and tried mechanism for that.

She should be shamed.

[–] aiden@lemm.ee 7 points 2 months ago (3 children)

I don't think they're saying to completely forgive them. It's just that them changing their mind is a positive change that should be acknowledged and celebrated. People can change for the better. Some people would still support Trump even when it hurts them.

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 27 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I haven't seen anything to indicate she's changed her mind. Not one "I was wrong", no "I regret my vote", nothing but whining about what's happened to her.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Sounds like they were smart enough to realize how stupid they looked. That’s not the same at all.

It’s A Cult. They will vote the same way again.

[–] baines@lemmy.cafe 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

it’s not about changing their minds, it’s about rubbing their faces in it

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

It is about making an example of terrible people instead of giving them a free pass.

[–] reiterationstation@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

Consequences for actions and being held accountable are the only ways a person, or country, can heal.

[–] Fingolfinz@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago

I view it as them being a coward and trying to hide in shame. Their post didn’t really come off as learning any lesson other than surprise that they got bit too when they meant to just hurt other people with their vote

[–] polycrome@lemmy.world 30 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's not admitting a mistake, it's trying to cover it up.

Admitting her mistake would be...admitting her mistake...and maybe going shoulder to shoulder with the activists protecting trans kids, immigrant families, and other disenfranchised groups.

The Nazis that burned the records and evidence of the concentration camps didn't feel remorse, they just didn't want to get caught for what they know they did.

If any Nazi wants my forgiveness they can earn it by bringing me ten Nazi skulls. That whould show me that they truly understand the harm they have caused.

Anything less is just lip service.

I appreciate your empathy and attempt at a positive change. However, keep in mind this is /c/leopardsatemyface. People are here specifically to see faces getting eaten.

[–] reiterationstation@lemm.ee -5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Nah no one needs to do shit “snowflake” what are you some SJW? You woke? You acting like some DEI libtard hire with that response.

No I don’t think I’ll be nice to the ones I know were maga. Actions have consequences and I intend to make sure they face some.

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

...are you sure you're not one of them? You sound pretty ignorant and angry...

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 31 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If anyone knows how to access non-public deleted Facebook posts, please let me know. I would love to share some of her past posts and pics of her and her husband wearing MAGA hats.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

There's no reason to dox them. Your point is valid without invading their privacy.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 25 points 2 months ago (9 children)

What do you call 9 people sitting at a table with 1 Nazi? 10 Nazis.

No sympathy. No quarter.

Never intended to dox anyone. I've made sure to black out her husband and her name from all 3 posts. I personally was a big fan of the old Herman Cain Award-style of posting emojis over pictures so you could still see what was going on without including personal details.

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 29 points 2 months ago

Absolutely zero fucks to give.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 months ago

Secretly thought and wished would never happen.

Secretly. Outwardly, though, apparently they were all "Woooo! Fire me, bitches! I can't wait for this to happen, let's do this!!"

[–] phoenixarise@lemmy.world 18 points 2 months ago

lol get fucked, you stupid bitch. You brought this completely on yourself. Also, using your job as a crutch to get through life is pathetic as hell.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

Hope she suffers greatly.
