I love smelling the fumes! I love the noise! Please, run me over, cars! I love getting stuck in traffic! Yes!

"Step" bro? Walking is communist, only rolling bros for me

This meme is so accurate. It should be sent to the thrash radio hosts of Quebec City. These people are so idiot, they are fighting against a tramway, a 1 billion dollar project, that the entire country agreed to pay for.

Cars has being a big industry in western countries for years. The decline of the automotive might be the good chance to get rid of them.

Or have small selfdriving electrical vehicles on demand only. Why don't we have that? Anyone can build a super secure vehicle that plods along in the city at 20-30 kmh max.

[–] flippinfreebird@lemmy.today 9 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Or larger electric self-driving vehicles on a track?

That sounds really energy efficient! We should have networks of these. We could make them run at specific intervals to optimise traffic flow.

[–] Agosagror@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 days ago

Hey maybe those cars could be coupled together on the track, since they are going to the same place anyway.

steel wheels on steel roads has near zero rolling resistance, it is the future of automobiles.

[–] PotatoLibre@feddit.it 2 points 4 days ago

I always think about the self driving vehicles when queueing in the car they would drastically cut the queueing time I guess.

Get a bike or mobility scooter.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Already got a mountainbike?

Follow the money. One makes the owning class unfathomably rich as it ties every living human to their transportation manufacturing. The other is so easy to repair you might need to just spend a few bucks on parts. Capitalists hate freedom.

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago (2 children)

But it is (corporate) freedom!

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It doesn’t feel very free when I’m required to own and operate one as the only practical means to get to and from my job due to a lack of public transportation.

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

Oh we agree. I don't mean freedom benefiting us, but corporations.

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Freedom? Owning a car?!? In this economy?!?

/s

[–] Auntievenim@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

That's real freedom! Freedom to sit in traffic! My property tax is 1/50th of the amount required to repair the street to my house! The nearest grocery store is 4 miles away!

[–] blubfisch@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yes, yes. But can we get some new memes please 🥺

Feel free to post. Lemmy definitely needs more people contributing.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 5 points 4 days ago

Some asshole is definitely going to ram one of those bicycle wheels.

We need rain protected parking with barriers to protect the bikes from cars. Or just ban the cars from the road.

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

I totally feel free to step out and walk through the bottom picture /s
