I've done that. I've made such boneheaded comments that I've left them up and downvoted myself out of not just shame, but a sense of duty.

Probably not as the action was performed by the same actor.
You could try downvoting it, waiting for some pity upvotes and then upvoting it again to give it a head start
Yep say something controversial but broadly acceptable, downvote yourself to look attacked, then come back in a few minutes and upvote your command and you're now the top child comment under a post. Stealthy but effective.

One thing I liked about Kbin was that I didn’t upvote my own post. All my votes were earned.
I'll do you one better: lottery. You set it up where it's random whether it's upvoted, downvoted, or neither. You don't know till you post.

Ik for a bit on reddit it was promoting controversial posts more and u could game the algorithm by doing this.
