Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - GoFundMe has apologized to the Cincinnati FOP for allowing postings to raise money in support of the man accused of intentionally killing a Hamilton County deputy.

Rodney Hinton Jr. was charged with aggravated murder for using a vehicle to hit and kill Larry Henderson while Henderson was working a traffic detail for the University of Cincinnati's graduation on May 2.

Correspondence was sent to its president, Ken Kober, that was shared on social media late Monday night.

Dear President Kober,

My name is Emily, I am reaching out from GoFundMe regarding Rodney Hinton Jr. and attempted misuse of the GoFundMe platform. I am deeply saddened at the death of Deputy Henderson, and on behalf of the entire GoFundMe team, we wanted to express our deepest condolences to the Ohio Law Enforcement community for your loss.

I was notified earlier today that our team removed a number of campaigns that violated our company’s terms of service related to raising money for individuals charged with violent crimes. GoFundMe’s Terms of Service prohibit fundraisers for the legal defense of violent crimes. Consistent with this long-standing policy, any fundraisers for the legal defense of someone charged with a violent crime are removed from the platform, and any money donated to that campaign is fully refunded to the person who sent in the donation.

I can assure you that there will be zero tolerance for this type of behavior on our platform. If you have any questions about the legitimacy of a fundraiser on our platform, or if you come across a campaign that you believe should be removed, please send it to me directly. You can consider me your direct line to GoFundMe, and we will resolve the matter as quickly as possible.

Once again, Deputy Henderson and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Emily Barson

Director of Policy & Engagement

The FOP had asked GoFundMe to remove multiple fundraising posts in support of Hinton Jr.

That was givesendgo (has Nazis) I think which is the Christian version of gofundme and donations for her is almost 729k now in such a short time meanwhile donations for Luigi's legal defence reached 1 million just recently after all this time. Givesendgo probably won't take it down on the other hand.

How much funding he get prior to the takedown?

Edit: a GiveSendGo was set up after the takedown for $6000, and apparently it's raised 50% of that as of this article's posting.

Already over 6000

They just do this entirely selectively, yeah? I don't see how that policy isn't easily circumvented by saying it's support for someone's family or something, so they can't be actually applying it as written.
