There will be more flexibility for onside kicks in 2025.

According to multiple reports, owners passed the rule change allowing teams to declare an onside kick attempt at any point during a game if the club is trailing.

I still find the phrase “declare an onside kick” weird. Now you can’t use it as a trick play. That was the fun part.

Kinda defeats the purpose if the receiving team can just stack 10 guys 10 yards from the kicker before it starts.

Offsides kicks gave gotten nerfed hard recently. It's like what 10% if that.

They should do what the ufl does and have 4th and whatever just to for sure give a team one chance

I really dislike the rule changes because it just makes so much tinkering for years and it's hard to understand.

I am think most of the dangerous play would be reduced if pads and equipment were made of stiff leather instead of plastics. If we made these guys hit each other and also feel it, they wouldn't hurt themselves by hitting so hard. just my opinion backed up with conversations with a couple of doctors with real NFL sports medicine experience

In this case, the tinkering makes it simpler.

"You have to be trailing."

they also charge the spot it takes place

Wasn't the old equipment made from leather? Weren't there more injuries during that time?

Not a fair comparison because they were also smoking and drinking at half-time when the were still wearing leather gear.

This rule will be reversed once teams start exploiting getting two back to back possessions. Special teams take note

Right because so many teams did this for all 50-odd years when it was legal /s
