What do you peeps think? Does this warrant an NSFW tag on this dedicated sub?

I don’t follow you, but your stuff frequently shows up on my front page. I’m glad! However, as an act of courtesy to users who browse Lemmy at work, I think most of your posts should be tagged NSFW.

It might seem like overkill, but please remember the ridiculously conservative environments (and coworkers) that many people have to deal with. People have gotten fired over stuff like this.

Your posts can be seen in people’s feed. Please always mark NSFW stuff as NSFW.

Thank you

If it is indeed nsfw. This comic isn't nsfw.

Your workplace must be unprofessional and immature

Does this warrant an NSFW tag? Eh, I don't think so.

But just because this is your community doesn't mean you don't need NSFW tags in general. I'm not subscribed or following you (although I enjoy your comics) and I'm seeing this post in my primary feed. I generally block NSFW content because my kids occasionally pick up my phone and I don't want to have inappropriate content open. I wouldn't really want them reading this comment, but they probably wouldn't understand it even if they did.

Really? Not subscribed, not following and yet I show up on your feed? That surprises me a little. Good to know, though. Thanks.

I'm a "All" user (I like to see basically everything instead of just subscribed communities) so anything that was posted will be sorted and filtered based on your settings. For me it's the most liked posts in 12 or 6 hours. Because of this I absolutely see posts that are suggestive or NSFW and so I have to block communities or stop using Lemmy at work.

Same. I should really just curate my feed and stick with subscribed. I tell myself it's broadening, but usually just end up seeing porn next to headlines from Gaza, and it's all a bit much.

Yeah that seems to be how lemmy works. The default setting is basically "view all," (Everything), and individuals can subscribe and block communities as they see the content.

[–] Pyr_Pressure@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago

Same here, first time seeing your name or comics. No idea who you are.

I don't really subscribe to anyone though, I just block any community/user that I don't want to see and browse all so I don't miss anything.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Yep. I'm not sure how Lemmy works yet, but if there's any sort of algorithm, it has accurately figured out that I'm a fan, but I'm not actively following almost anyone yet.

Thank you all for responding. I've learned a lot.
I was completely unaware that my small sub gets shown on the front page.
When I first started posting on Reddit 5 years ago, I couldn't get a dog to even piss on my sub, unless I lured it in by cross posting to more populated subs. So Lemmy in 2025 works different than Reddit in 2020, I guess. ☺

With those none-following viewers in mind, I will rethink my NFSW-tag usage.

Again, thank you.

Appreciate the understanding and ability for self reflection, and this right here is exactly why we aren't on reddit lol

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 5 points 2 months ago

Thanks ! Keep up the good work !

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 4 points 2 months ago

You are very welcome!

Thanks and subbed!

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 4 points 2 months ago

A major difference between reddit and lemmy is that on reddit people tend to only see what they are subscribed to, and on lemmy people tend to see everything their instance federates with. The reason for this is because the post quantity is orders of magnitude higher on reddit. If lemmy ever gets to that level, people will likely limit their feed to subscribed only.

[–] astrsk@fedia.io 1 points 2 months ago

That's a great mindset, keep it up!

[–] chatokun@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 2 months ago

Technically you show up in our "everything" feed, though I wouldn't be bothered enough to report. I just filter if it bothers me. Like I do with most sports communities...

[–] _cryptagion@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 2 months ago

Well, is this is par for the course for your community, then yes, it should be properly flagged out of consideration for people who might run across it on the front page.

[–] ProfessorOwl_PhD@hexbear.net 7 points 2 months ago

You realise your posts are distributed to the front-page of every instance that's federated with .nl, right? I'm pretty sure there's a setting to make it a private community, but until you turn it on none of this is limited to your subscribers.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 5 points 2 months ago

As this just showed up for me on my all feed without ever knowing about you before now I would say yes in general you should use NSFW tags for serial or sensitive content if you want people not to block your comm or defederate.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm blocking this instance

It's annoying
