Inb4 Trump still attempts to pardon them

[–] neclimdul@lemmy.world 40 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

You haven't heard of the Magna Carta? It gives him the President the right to pardon people in the UK.

Heinous Corpus

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 13 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Interestingly to dull people like me, it’s just Magna Carta, with no definite article.

[–] neclimdul@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Dangit, I knew that too and typed it without thinking. Also referred to several documents with a bit of a confusing history to those people that just learned about it in the US public schools.

[–] WolfmanEightySix@piefed.social 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Well…it was written by an American.

It also contains the letters U and K in there. Sometimes next to each other.

Let them prove how “alpha” they are by making them fight a lion.

They look like the human versions of the Worm Guys from Men in Black

[–] kikutwo@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

I love this for them.

I thought that already happened? Maybe that was arrest and I haven't watched enough procedural dramas?

UK vs Romania maybe?

[–] CidVicious@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 weeks ago

Not that I follow very closely but yeah I believe the original arrest was in Romania. Big cases like this can take years to resolve. Not sure how extradition laws would apply here.

That's not just a beard. It's a chin constructed from hair.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

If Trump offers them asylum is there anything the rest of the world can do?

[–] nulluser@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Before they're charged, the brothers must be extradited from Romania. That won't happen until a criminal case there is settled.

They'd somehow have to escape from where they're being held in Romania and get to the US before that would do them any good.

[–] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 13 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I think they left Romania to Florida.

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 3 weeks ago

They went back on time though. I checked up on that at the time because I was expecting them to be fugitive afterwards.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 9 points 3 weeks ago

Temporarily to make a court appearance then they were flown back.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah I guess the American government has never been involved with exfiltrating someone out of a foreign country before.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

While it could be done, it would be a lot for little political payoff.

I wouldn’t write it off as a possibility but it would surprise me even with this administration.

[–] overload@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Yeah, not really sure what favour the Tate's have with Trump. He's a transactional piece of shit.

[–] BrotherL0v3@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago
