Why do Minor League teams go so much harder than the Majors when it comes to their team names and mascots?

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Major League teams have the big markets, the nationally broadcasted games, the star players. They don’t need to go hard. Minors, they’ve got 20 year olds who will likely never reach the majors and washed up journeymen. They deliver a banger like the Rocket City Trash Pandas, that’ll sell t-shirts to people who haven’t even stepped foot in the state.

Chasers are guys that are really weird about being into trans women.

I know, the title is for comedic purpose

Do women who are really weird about being into trans men are also called chasers? Do they have homolog behaviour? Are there a thing?

[–] Babs@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

Yes but seem to be way less common, at least for trans women. Maybe trans guys have more experience there.

I know some queer cis women who could be called enby chasers but nobody really calls them chasers and nobody seems that upset by it. I just assume that it's a power dynamic thing. There's an issue with the power dynamic of cis men chasing trans women that likely isn't true for any other combination of gender seeking other gender you could conceive of. Cis men are typically the problem because of the systemic power dynamic inherent between "man" and "not man".

If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me. This is just my experience with my community.

I'd be careful of that. There is plenty of evidence that abuse in lesbian relationships is as high as in straight relationships. I think when we assume that abuse in relationships is primarily a male problem we are whitewashing abuse by women and abuse in relationships where there are no men. Whenever I point this out it seems to upset a lot of people but that is not my intention. Interpersonal conflict and abuse in general is genderless so we should expect there to be abuse in relationships of the LGBTQ+ variety. The factors that contribute to abusive partners are much more complicated than just a "power dynamic". Further, power dynamics can exist in many ways that aren't exclusive to traditional masculinity.
