My mom just handed me a package yesterday (we live together currently) I was not expecting. "Its from your cats, for father's day."

What.

I dont think much thought was put into it

  • The shirt was customizable
  • I have 2 cats
  • One of the cats on the shirt was orange instead of Black/brown
  • The other cat's name was misspelled (she asked me after she ordered it)
  • Shirt size was 2 sizes too small (she handles my laundry)
  • Pretty sure there's no exchanges on custom shirts

Something tells me she saw a Facebook ad for the shirt and bought it on a whim. Im still having trouble processing getting the shirt I didn't ask for, and tbh, I probably wouldn't even wear.

Im not ungrateful. I appreciated the thought, but I wish she would have asked if getting a gift for the holiday was ok, my shirt size, or maybe if I even liked the design.

That's sweet actually. It's like she's saying, "I don't need to pressure you for grandkids, I'm happy with grandkitties. I'm proud you're a good Cat Dad."

I appreciate the positive vibes. She has given that impression. The gift was kind of just out of left field.

Maybe offer to do the laundry for a bit.

Declaring you're not ungrateful doesn't make it so

Stating my feelings is how I can portray them across the internet. I understand your point though. I am cynical. My upbringing was poor. My mom wasn't in my life for most of it. I appreciate the gift, but I wish it had been presented differently.

Generally women know that they’re pregnant before their partners.

unless target tells their partner before they even know they are pregnant

If ur as lost as me when first reading it:

His wife hands him a fathers day card (from someone else), but hes not a father yet. He thinks she is pregnant and it scares him. His wife wrote the card as if its from the cat.

This, but in case you didn't know, there's quite a few commercially made "Happy (whatever)day From The Cat/Dog/Pets" cards out there. She probably found it while looking for a card for her own dad. Whether she was pranking him or just thought it'd be cute depends on her personality.

Seems a little silly, I havent seen those here in Germany.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

Actually they often are intentionally silly:

"Happy birthday from the cat! I put a dead mouse on your pillow and a hairball in your shoe! Have a day full of fun surprises!"

"Merry Christmas from the dog! I was going to bring you some mistletoe but I accidentally ate it. So I barfed it up on the carpet. Might eat it again later."

Now that makes more sense.

Does it though? XD

So he's a catsexual?

[–] troed@fedia.io 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

she's having a baby

yeah this one isn't ready for fatherhood

[–] troed@fedia.io 6 points 5 days ago (2 children)

explanation for downvoters:

that was not a comment about apostrophe usage but the fact that in a relationship you're having a baby, not just the woman.

... but maybe you believe that isn't so and then ... you're not either.

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Its still the woman carrying and giving birth to the child. I dont think saying it like it is would give any indication to how devoted you are to the relationship.

Also but not completely seriously, he cant even know if its his child as well.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 4 points 4 days ago

Of course I'm not ready. I don't want or could even afford to have children. Also nobody is ever ready for their first child.
