barred from graduating college due to pregnancy

WTF?

Here we had and have programs to help women in that situation!

USA is such a shitty country.

It was 1959 and it was because the schools wouldn't let her be a student teacher, a requirement for graduation which is...

Very 1959 America.

OK then the headline is wrong, because 2025 -60 is 1965.
Incredibly backwards 20 years after WW2 where women became way more accepted in work and education.

Anyways congratulations and kudos to her for taking it now. 👍

That title is so much to chew over. Like swimming through a syrup swimming pool. Holy shit.

I spent too much time trying to understand meaning of "pregnancy clinching"

this is a less apocalyptic version of the starving Palestinian children finally receiving bread.

i.e. justice delayed is justice denied

this Lady deserves damages payments PLUS back wage reparations for 70+/- years of lost working years.

She should have obtained her degree in 1959, but at the time she wasn’t allowed to student teach — a requirement for graduation — because she was pregnant with her and her husband’s first of four daughters. But Justin Dimmel, associate dean for the College of Education and Human Development, and other officials determined this year that when Alexander worked as a full-time aide for a preschool program in the early 1980s, that was enough to satisfy the mandate.

The octogenarian graduated with a bachelor of science in education.

"incredible" ≠ "not credible"

"incredible" = "amazing"

"not credible" = "disreputable"
