Theme: Mike's Honey & Grapefruit is scented with grapefruit essential oil and honey.

Daily challenge: I'm wiped after this weekend and don't have the energy to battle rap. $selfcare is recognizing when you just don't have the energy.

$FOF - Arkadia, a dupe of Terre d'Hermes, fit naturally with this soap and splash. The throughline is grapefruit, with orange, florals, and cedar popping through in the dry down. It's a very nice progression for a sunny summer day.

June 22nd, 2025: It Takes Two

  • Brush: Omega - Bambino Boar
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Ti
  • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - Glace Herbe - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - V - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Catie's Bubbles - V - EdP

Daily Theme Justification: I will defer to C Bubs himself on his thoughts about Glace Herbe being a two note soap, which includes Haitian Vetiver and menthol.

Daily Theme: Originally I was going to use Fanzine Saponifications Bubblegum and Rose. However, it feels like a million degrees in the midwest and I had just got done with yard work. As soon as I got done shaving, I saw u/TheStallionPartThree tag me for the rap battle and I will address that momentarily. Glace Herbe cooled me down and gave me that nice earthy, grassy, and nutty smell of Haitian Vetiver. I really enjoyed this soap that I got from u/BrokenJaw622, now I need to find a set of it. V splash and frag to follow up to follow the Vetiver train. You have that nice Vetiver base with V with a lot of top end complexity that really captivates me. It is probably my favorite fragrance to date.

Daily Challenge: u/TheStallionPartThree mentioned me earlier and this'll be challenge entry and reply for a call out.

The man with a plan who cooks for Fanzine

He's down with the brown which we call Ween

Could've lathered up some bubblegum and Rose

Instead Glace Herbe left me all froze

The Stallion whips up the Candi

His releases are sure to be dandy

Whether its Part one, two, or three

He made sure the Roses are Free!

  • Brush: Zenith B40 28mm Boar
  • Razor: F.W. Engels Leader 6/8 Full Hollow Square Point
  • Lather: Eufros - Rosa Oud - Soap
  • Post Shave: Eufros - Rosa Oud - Aftershave Balm
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Coconut - Toner
  • Fragrance: Maison Francis Kurkdjian - Oud - Eau de Parfum

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

The scent notes that are marketed for this soap and balm are in the name; rose and oud.

What a fantastic soap! The fragrance and soap base are top tier, imo. I am grateful to u/VisceralWatch for introducing me to Eufros and for reaching out directly to Manuel Garcia to get aftershave balms for me. These are great products. Worth buying if you can find them. I really enjoyed today's setup. The Francis Kurkdjian Oud fragrance was the perfect finish for this shave.

I won't be battle rapping today.

It Takes Two: Day 22 of Lather Games

  • Brush: Declaration Grooming Washington Blood of Kings B3
  • Razor: Atelier Durdan – Horizon $ARTISTCLUB $ADJUSTABLE $CNC
  • Blade: Feather Professional
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co – Black Pepper Lime
  • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company – Seaforth! Sea Spice Lime
  • Fragrance: №4711 – Acqua Colonia Blood Orange & Basil

Theme justification: Black pepper and lime. All software today is marketed as a citrus and something (although only the soap claims two scent notes): Black pepper + lime, sea spice + lime, basil + blood orange.

Very satisfying shave. The fully open Horizon is a very nice shaver. Smooth and with a strong blade feel. The R41 of AC safety razors.

June 22nd, 2025: Day 22

  • Brush: Maggard Razors - Tuxedo 24mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Gold Dollar Straight Razor (6)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Lavender Sage - Soap
  • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Sni Mato - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Dove - Men+Care Ultra-Hydra - Cream
  • Fragrance: Berceuse Parfum - Allegretto 7.2 - EdP

Theme justification: it says in the rules that this one is on theme. Easy!

Lavender Sage into Sni Mato into Allegretto 7.2 makes no sense at all. I should have used this combo for non-complimentary clash day. Woof.

I can't believe this razor still shaves. Honestly it's decent, but in my non-expert opinion it might be ready for a refresh despite having only been used a handful of times.

This was the very first straight razor I got, and right away I put a chip in by using it as a knife because why not. So it was the first razor I ever honed, removing a bunch of material to get rid of the chip. So the fact that it actually works is surprising.

So the fact that it actually works is surprising.

This can be true for a new Gold Dollar :). I think refreshing the edge more frequently makes sense when you’re becoming accustomed to a straight razor. It helps to focus on technique when you’re confident that the edge is good.

Quartidi 4 Messidor an 233 de la Révolution, jour de Véronique

The razor is very sharp, but not that confortable. I should probably do something about that.

Have a good day.
