Image is of the damage caused by an Iranian Kheibar Shekan ballistic missile in Israel, causing dozens of injuries.

Now in our second week of the conflict, we have seen continuing damage to both Israel and Iran, as well as direct US intervention which nonetheless seems to have caused limited damage to Fordow and little damage to Iran's nuclear program. Regime change seems more elusive than ever, as even Iranians previously critical of the government now rally around it as they are attacked by two rabid imperialists at once. And Iran's government is tentatively considering a withdrawal, or at minimum a reconsideration, of their membership to the IAEA and the NPT. And, of course, the Strait of Hormuz is still a tool in their arsenal.

A day or so on from the strike on Fordow, we have so far seen basically no change in strategy from the Iranian military as they continue to strike Israel with small barrages of missiles. Military analysts argue furiously - is this a deliberate strategy of steady attrition on Israel, or indicative of immense material constraints on Iran? Are the hits by Israel on real targets, or are they decoys? Does Iran wish to develop a nuke, or are they still hesitating? Will Iran and Yemen strike at US warships and bases in response to the attack, or will they merely continue striking only Israel?

And perhaps most importantly - will this conflict end diplomatically due to a lack of appetite for an extended war (to wit: not a peace but a 20 year armistice) or with Israel forced into major concessions including an end to their genocide? Or even with a total military/societal collapse of either side?

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.

the newsmega can have a little 'is zohran mao or obama' struggle session as a treat (such as in this subthread) but this is the world newsmega, not the electoralism-mega and so please limit zohran posting to a dull roar. things like zohran struggle sessions are literally exactly what c/electoralism was made for, not the news mega.

along the same lines, zionists and fascists are having a shitfit about zohran and yes it is funny, but let's try to keep the newsmega to only the dankest of memes and the saltiest of zionist tears. we don't need to hear about every DC think tankie pondering the orb with bill ackman.

As a non-American, I couldn’t give any less of a damn what a single New York mayor will or will not do, because ultimately he doesn’t have any control over American foreign policy which does affect me and everyone I know.

I will say this though: the amount of glazing I’ve seen Americans on this site give this “socialist” reminds me a lot of when the old chapo subreddit was glazing Bernie and AOC back in the day as the new revolutionary movement. And look where that got you guys back-to-me

[–] xiaohongshu@hexbear.net 1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Just let people have their fun.

American leftists still believe that they can achieve transformative change without having to sacrifice their first world comforts and privileges. That’s why they are so invested in peaceful protests and electoralism.

Because the alternative is to turn militant, getting hunted by the Feds, having to hide and organize from an underground network far and away from the treats and comforts they’re so used to enjoying, like what the actual communists used to do. It’s truly putting your ideological conviction to the test. Are you willing to lose your life for your own ideology? That’s just too much, couldn’t do that. This is why all the American “Marxist” parties will give you a dozen reasons why they’re never getting armed.

People on this site like to fantasize that they could become some revolutionary fighters, but how many of them can actually commit to a life like that? I even doubt that most of us in China can do that now that life has gotten so comfortable compared to a hundred years ago.

A new scandal in Arabic social media. The repugnant Queen Rania Abdullah of Jordan and her children attended the ostentatious wedding of Jeff Bezos whose company is heavily involved in the zionist childkilling genocide machine.

Rania is Palestinian, like most of the people living in what is called Jordan.

[–] LoveYourself@hexbear.net 10 points 55 minutes ago

Of note:

At least 2 Jordanian citizens died earlier this month, including a young girl in Irbid, from shrapnel following Jordnanian/American interceptions of Iranian missiles.

Also the Jordanian regime has arrested journalists and thousands of people since al Aqsa Flood for daring to support Palestine and criticize the Jordanian regime's collaboration with the zionist cancer.

The linked article is a good primer on the counterinsurgency history of the Jordanian regime.

Today, hundreds of thousands of Iranians took to the streets of Tehran to pay their respects to the martyrs of the war imposed by the US-israel against Iran.

These are a people who will never be defeated.

NEW: Direct actionists are now claiming their actions under an organisation called "Yvette Cooper" - aka the British Home Secretary currently attemtping to proscribe and label Palestine Action as a terrorist group.

The logic is that if Palestine Action were to be banned and support for their cause illegalised, surely the British state must proscribe and illegalise support for "Yvette Cooper"!

Whether it's a temporary joke at the inefficacy of the british judicial system's hypocrisy over how it suppresses antizionism and supports genocide, or a genuine tactic that will become concrete within the militant opposition to the zionist entity in Britain, is truly up to the brave comrades who put their livelihoods on the line to fight imperialism.

Either way. Lol lmao.

News is floating around that the snake Rafael Grossi said Iran is hiding nuclear material in Isfahan.

The truth is somewhat more bizarre and actually concerning. In an interview with "Fox News" a few days ago, the anchor says that he claimed Iran was hiding 900lbs of enriched uranium at "ancient site near Isfahan." Grossi does not deny saying it (I can't find evidence he ever did say it.) He replies that the IAEA doesnt know and can't be sure unless Iran allows IAEA observers into Iran.

Screenshot from the linked article.

It is noteworthy that this specific nazi news outlet used to employ the current US Secretary of Genocide Pete Hegseth who used to talk about "bombing Iranian cultural sites" on his show.

Anyways. Grossi gets plausible deniability while the US gets to threaten Iran that they will bomb the 800 year old Mosque outside Isfahan if the Islamic Republic doesnt allow IAEA spies into the country.

The idea of hiding uranium in a mosque is so laughably absurd but I guess 25 years of war on terror programming has prepared people to accept it.

Thankfully the Iranian government did officially ban cooperation with ~~Mossad~~ IAEA earlier this week.

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 1 points 32 minutes ago

Thing is... how does this work for the entity/US if it's true?

If Iran suspects their location is compromised they can clearly transport the Uranium to literally any other securs location (especially true if they're willing to hide it in these mosques). By announcing it and reporting on it they've given Iran vital early warning to react.

Perhaps it's a bluff - they know Iran will move it if they're worried so they can track it to a less controversial location. Like how they claimed to know Khameini's location in a possible attempt to monitor IRGC units attempting to move him in the open.

Even still, Israel requires HOURS of prep fky to Iran. Even in its fucked up state, Iran will have some kind of notice to avoid a disaster.

So why even place it in the media? Why not just do what they do in Lebanon and strike without warning and announce the results later?

Either way, if they know its there or not (and regardless of the reality) unless Iran admits to anything (they wont) any such attack beyond perhaps a commando raid would work?

Idk seems like a desperate ploy to get Trump on board for the TRUE quest of every CIA strategist: the total political collapse of the Iranian Islamic government. Coz that clearly didnt materialise as hoped.

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 12 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Three recent events to do with Iran that I believe may be interlinked:

First, Iran has begun excavation operations at Isfahan, the underground nuclear site where only the entrances were targeted. No GBU-57 MOPs deployed here. They have opened one of these entrances today, visible on satellite imagery. It is no longer entombed. Iran may have transferred enriched uranium and centrifuges stored inside the facility, likely undamaged. Unless this movement has been co-ordinated with the United States for a potential handover of enriched material (I doubt this), this is an important development, as it could be considered a breach of the ceasefire.

The virtual US embassy in Iran has released a statement advising US citizens to leave Iran immediately while the airspace is open to commerical and civilian aircraft. Archive source to avoid data capture by a US government website

Event: As of June 26, 2025, Iranian airspace has been partially reopened, although commercial travel from Tehran and other major hubs may be disrupted. U.S. citizens should monitor local media and consult commercial airlines for more information on outbound flights from Iran. U.S. citizens planning to depart Iran should proceed by land to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, or Turkmenistan, if conditions are safe.

Leave Iran immediately. Have a plan to leave Iran without relying on U.S. government assistance. If you cannot leave Iran, choose a safe place in your residence or another safe building. Take some food, water, medicine, and other essential items with you. Keep your cell phone charged and stay in touch with family and friends to keep them informed of your situation.

Another E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft has been transferred to Saudi Arabia. Remember, there are still many US fighter aircraft (likely over 200) forward deployed to the Middle East, and the 4x B-52 Stratofortress bombers and 6x F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft have not left Diego Garcia.

Trump's tweet about Khamenei is likely not about him or his speech at all. I'd guess it's a signal to Iran given the developments at Isfahan. This is a developing and dynamic situation, if the US or Israel do believe Iran has excavated enriched uranium and intact centrifuges, without oversight by the USA, it could escalate fast. Again, could possibly based on these assumptions, not will.

Update: preliminary and unconfirmed reports of explosions or air defence activity in Tabriz, Malard, Eslamshahr, Karaj, and the Western parts of Tehran. Updating to say it's most likely over cautious air defence.

Video of said activity

Wonder if this is just the usual events since the beginning of the ceasefire (air defence firing as a precaution), or something else.

I wish they would have done this after dust has settled

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 1 points 28 minutes ago

unless they have no uranium for a bomb outside of these facilities it's easy safer to leave them "destroyed" for now

I was waiting for a nothingburger conclusion, glad to hear this is meaningful

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 32 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

There's a lot of unknowns right now. Maybe Iran is extracting the enriched uranium for a handover to the USA, though that would shock even me, one of the more pessimistic people on Iran. Maybe they're doing it for their own purposes, to further nuclear development. Maybe nothing was extracted, who knows. But if you were Iran, you would transfer most of the enriched uranium to Isfahan before the strikes as it's your deepest underground facility. And you would do this to extract it, that's not a open top dump truck on the satellite imagery. This is the one card they can play right now.

trump-drenched : "Why would the so-called “Supreme Leader,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, of the war torn Country of Iran, say so blatantly and foolishly that he won the War with Israel, when he knows his statement is a lie, it is not so. As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie. His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the U.S. Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life. I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH, and he does not have to say, “THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!” In fact, in the final act of the War, I demanded that Israel bring back a very large group of planes, which were heading directly to Tehran, looking for a big day, perhaps the final knockout! Tremendous damage would have ensued, and many Iranians would have been killed. It was going to be the biggest attack of the War, by far. During the last few days, I was working on the possible removal of sanctions, and other things, which would have given a much better chance to Iran at a full, fast, and complete recovery - The sanctions are BITING! But no, instead I get hit with a statement of anger, hatred, and disgust, and immediately dropped all work on sanction relief, and more. Iran has to get back into the World Order flow, or things will only get worse for them. They are always so angry, hostile, and unhappy, and look at what it has gotten them - A burned out, blown up Country, with no future, a decimated Military, a horrible Economy, and DEATH all around them. They have no hope, and it will only get worse! I wish the leadership of Iran would realize that you often get more with HONEY than you do with VINEGAR. PEACE!!!"

The RAF had its flight training privatized, leading to what I think is fair to say is a total collapse of training capability.

The NAO investigation into the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS) contract, which is let to a consortium backed in part by US arms multinational Lockheed Martin, thundered that the RAF was short of 330 pilots, while almost half of students entering the UKMFTS system last year failed to complete their intermediate training.

"In its worst year (2018-19), 49 students completed Phase 2, an 86 per cent shortfall against the [Ministry of Defence's] current aircrew requirements. In its best year (2015-16), 182 students completed Phase 2, a 21 per cent shortfall," said the NAO in its latest report.

Damningly, RAF fast jet pilots, the two-winged master race* who fly the service's Typhoon and F-35 fighters, were taking more than seven years to get from joining the Air Force to being declared ready for frontline duties.
