looks at my pile of pirating websites uh... one of those
Casual Conversation
Share a story, ask a question, or start a conversation about (almost) anything you desire. Maybe you'll make some friends in the process.
RULES
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
- Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
- Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
- Keep it clean and SFW
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Spotify
Jellyfin, realistically. Of paid platforms, Shudder.
It's a tough call between either MeansTV or OTV, but I'll go with Means. They're a co-op, as opposed to OTV being a non-profit, and i think that's probably less corruptible/more stable.
Plex has everything I want to watch!
Dropout.tv and pirate everything else
seconded on Dropout. No other streaming service can even dream of matching their quality and humor.
YouTube
Jellyfin, I guess. I currently use plex for music and video (eary lifetime pass), but 10 more years of enshitification is too much time for any for-profit endeavor. Profit motive ruins everything it touches. For anything long-term open source options with a community are important. I have seen too many potentially great projects fail because the lone author had kids or fell ill or just got bored.
first I'd have to find one that's worth a damn.
The only one that couldn't be substituted with piracy is using F1TV with the Multiviewer app, so it would be that.
First choice would be YouTube because I already use it more than anything else, it has music, and I like falling asleep to video essays.
For movies I would pick Tubi because it has a decent selection and is completely defenseless against uBlock Origin.
Boosteroid (cloud gaming)
MUBI, I guess.
Qobuz
I'm gonna go Disney. They've got loads of great sitcoms, a few documentaries and some good serials. So much of netflix is just pure white nowadays.
What does pure white mean in this context?
