His show is popular. So no. Because it would be financially prudent to keep the show.

They're bending the knee to a felon rapist, like so many other pathetic companies. If you're paying CBS/Paramount...stop.

I'm not sure who's here on Lemmy that needs to hear this, but there are several good communities dedicated to piracy across Lemmy. It is, in fact, sometimes the moral option. Don't hesitate to ask questions (not of me but of some expert on a piracy community, I'm an idiot with delusions of above averageness), most people are happy to help.

Nope, CBS is scared shitless that Trump will take over CBS somehow. So they will continue sucking donnie's dick to avoid that.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 19 points 5 days ago

So many people, businesses, and countries have given Trump BJs to stay in his favour and all it does it show him he can come back and bully them again for more.

But I'm sure it'll work out this time.

They don’t care about Trump taking over CBS, they care about the Skydance/Paramount merger in progress. Paramount owns CBS. And Trump would push to stop that merger unless CBS, Paramount, and Skydance bend the knee.

The sad fact is, after the merger goes through they will continue to be extorted by Trump. It won’t stop with this one move.

Trump is a shit stain. But I don't get why people don't see that he's not the only shit stain. These companies aren't afraid of him. They are supporting the shift to fascism that they chose. So even the most milk toast liberal criticism won't have a place in that world. This isn't done out of fear.

Please remember this. Because fascism won't die with Trump. The capitalist class has chosen it. And they will support it as long as it serves their interests.

Technically yes. It will influence the administrations approval of a merger. And in a way, that is so much worse than being afraid. They are willing to sell out the country for their own profit.

[–] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

What's stopping the Trump admin from continuing to obstruct the merger? I wouldn't put it past him to try to screw over Paramount even more, now that they showed him that he can push them around.

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

That's the thing, there isn't anything stopping Trump from blocking it anyway. Look what happened to Columbia. They bent the knee, and he still fucked them. Fascist's gonna fascist.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Hell no. CBS just bent at the knee to kiss Donny’s onion ring.

[–] Red_October@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Of course it's a financial decision. It's not because Colbert doesn't bring in money, or even because he doesn't bring in ENOUGH money, it's because of the merger witth Paramount that requires the Trump administration's approval. THAT is their financial concern.

[–] Phegan@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago

No it's complying to fascist.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Nope. No one is controlling the media! Every accusation is a confession.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

When comedy dies, democracy dies.

I'm pretty sure democracy will die way before comedy this time

[–] ryper@lemmy.ca 7 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Not to what CBS/Paramount did, but they've got The Daily Show too, and Jon Stewart's complaining about the bribe on his episode last week doesn't seem to have triggered any punishment there. He even had a former 60 Minutes correspondent on to discuss the bribe.

I'm going to ask every fElon fan and every single MAGAt I know IRL if we legalized comedy yet.

Most especially if they gloat about this. 🤣
