Brutalism like that first picture is good! Air and light, just efficient and using preformed structure arranged to please vs complex material adornment.

Dune movies may have contributed. Or maybe the return of Dune to cinemas is simply another part of the new zeitgeist "yearning for the tangible and the material" as this writer puts it.
