The only downside is occasionally not being sure who's underwear is who's. Also it might not fit guys as well, but that can be excused for the extra style.

I wear boxers and they like to wear out right at the bottom of the crotch on either side of the seam. My girlfriend calls them poop holes.
Also why is it so God damned hard to find knit boxers nowadays? Almost everything at the store is boxer briefs, which I hate because they ride up my leg. And when I do find boxers, half of them are a woven cotton that feels like a plastic tarp.
The big brain play for me is to just not wear underwear as a guy. Cause fuck it. Done this for a solid decade now.

I've gotten a lotta compliments on my Airism boxer briefs from Uniqlo, there's a no accolade brand, David Archy, that makes some solid micromodal underwear and I really like the look and feel of some of the MeUndies ones.
Get a pair, see which ones you like best, then slowly get more over a few months. Eventually, you have a whole drawer of nice underwear.
