SOTD - 2026-02-01

  • Prep: Stirling Unscented Preshave Soap
  • Brush: Unbranded; synthetic?
  • Razor: Stirling de3p6s standard head
  • Blade: Feather Hi Stainless (1)
  • Lather: Stirling Campania Shave Soap
  • Alum: Stirling Travel Size Alum
  • Aftershave: Stirling Campania Aftershave Splash
  • Serum: Ash Hopper Blueberry Serum
  • Lotion: Humble Bee Botanicals "Calendulove" Face Cream

Single pass WTG - a comfortably close shave. Some irritation in problem areas (chin, one place on neck) where I tried touching up too much. Wish I coulda got it closer on the chin and neck. Ditching the Taconic aftershave balm seems to have gone well.

I had been intimidated to use the Feather blade in this razor but I think it went alright. I think this shave maybe had the least amount of tugging so far, but still some on my chin. Maybe I should try a slant or open comb some day?

First time using Campania. It's nice, very clean smelling, but a bit tame. I would rank it as my 3rd favorite stirling scent so far.

Shave 9 of the brain bowl, first of the Atlas Shaves and was extremely pleased to find that MdC Fougere actually matches every single scent note. Although it is not Tallow and Steel or Himalayas, this will do just fine for day one. Here is to another month of ASSHOLE shaves! tagging u/AdWorried2804

  • Prep: Shower
  • Brush: Badlands Shaving Co. W/ AP Shave Co G5C 26mm
  • Razor: GEM G-Bar
  • Blade: GEM PTFE
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Haverford
  • Post Shave: Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Gel Cream
  • Fragrance: Tokyomilk Bulletproof
  • Whiskers: Jojoba/Argan w/Tea Tree Oil

Tub loaded and face lathered today. The G5C feels pretty nice for face lathering. Been quite a while since I posted a SOTD. Wetshaving was only on Reddit then.

Welcome! And welcome back :)

[–] walden@wetshav.ing 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Did you buy Haverford recently? It wasn't available for a little while because Stirling couldn't get the fragrance anymore, but now it's back and I'm curious if it's any different. It's supposed to be the same but I haven't read any reviews.

[–] FWAaron@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes, I bought it very shortly after it came back. It smells the same to me. If I understand the situation correctly, it's supposedly from the same producer, but a different wholesaler? I've seen some people mention they think it seems weaker now and I don't think so, mine seems fine strength wise.

[–] walden@wetshav.ing 3 points 2 days ago

Cool, good to know. I need a tub of that in my life.

Winding down on the Gingerbread Man sample. The scent is okay; Stirling base is solid as normal.

Have a good day!

Thanks for linking to WSDB. I haven't posted SOTDs since trythatsoap was a thing and was wondering if there was a tool like that around.

[–] pi_dash_rho@wetshav.ing 5 points 2 days ago

WSDB SOTD Tool is nice and comfy for me. Be sure to check out the Shaving Data System for more analytical approach where you can monitor your den and usage. WSDB SOTD Tool will pull data from there and post your shaves over there if you want both approaches.

February 1st, 2026: Air Bud

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound "Spice Lily" - TurnNShave Tuxedo 26mm Synthetic
  • Razor: Yates Precision Manufacturing 921-M
  • Blade: Astra Green (8)
  • Lather: Noble Otter - Lorekeeper - Soap
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Lonestar - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: Stirling - Oro Valley - EdT

Lorekeeper is really nice and worked well with Lonestar. I'll probably also grab the splash at some point.

Starting off ASSHOLE2026 with an Air Bud. I have no Tallow + Steel in my den, and no soaps that match 50% of those notes. A diabolical first pick to start the month off.
