Piefed is great!

Highly recommended. Now I can donate again without feeling gross about supporting dessalines and nutomic.

Lemmy.ml isn’t the “flagship” or default instance when you go to join-Lemmy.org.

Enjoy Piefed, from what I remember about your comments during the development of Tesseract, it should align with what you want

Piefed is fun

The de facto most important instance is surely Lemmy.world. So I guess Lemmy.ml can be mostly ignored

Most comments from lemmy.ml range from neutral slightly below average to slightly above, but conversely after someone has blocked Lemmygrad and hexbear, the most batshit insane comments very much tend to come from there. This includes, highly ironically (rotfl), the recent statement that PieFed has a hard-coded block of lemmy.ml, which is laughable!!?!

I do not feel that I am ever missing something by personally blocking Lemmy.ml - and this is based off of months of checking, every time I notice e.g. a different comment count than what I see.

If someone enjoys reading their so-called "content", go ahead and enjoy all you like, but that's not my thing, and I am SO GLAD that I can enact my own personal defederation of it.

You are going to love PieFed, I do believe. Mainly since they are more receptive to feedback and actual code changes than Lemmy is, so your improvements could benefit the entire PieFed userbase regardless of which UI they run. They understand that sometimes no content (of the sort that just pisses people off) is better than highly negative stuff, and e.g. if you block someone then PieFed sides with the person doing the blocking rather than insisting on the rights of the person being blocked to incessantly troll you, able to send you DMs, vote on your content, reply to you, trigger notifications, etc. (some of this refers to "instance blocking", with only a subset but not none of which also applies to "user blocking").

Basically, PieFed places more control into the hands of the individual user, rather than relying upon a single source of authoritarian control (the instance admin, or to a lesser degree the mods).

you are going to love it here.gif

Are you allowed to talk about the Hannibal Directive on PieFed?

You can block instances, you know.

:sigh:

  1. That doesn't block obnoxious users from there, only communities
  2. New users are still flooded with that and have to block it
  3. If you're a potential new user (which is the topic of this post) and just browsing unauthenticated to see what it's like here, no, you can't block instances (or anyone or anything).
