mentos sign is photoshopped, if someone wondered

[–] Maven@piefed.zip 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Im pretty sure both of them are tbh

But they couldn't even do a diet Coke sign? (since regular doesn't work nearly as well.)

Pretty sure both of them are LLM-generated

  • LLMs, by definition, do not generate images.
  • This image predates AI.

These have been AI upscaled, hence the artifacts.

Are you telling me that mentos doesn't ship entire trucks or that they don't bother to put the logo in the top of the trucks that they clearly don't have?

So it's a common misconception that this explosion would have destroyed the world itself. It would instead set off megaton detection alarms all over the world triggering retaliation from the US onto every other country who would send their own retaliation nukes. Basically it triggers MAD.

Thank God it wasn't Diet Coke or we'd all be dead.

~~Diet Coke doesn't react more strongly with Mentos. It's just easier to clean up afterwards because the lack of sugar makes it less sticky.~~

Oops, guess I was wrong!

Diet Coke dosnt have sugar, which makes liquid thicker. Lower viscosity = CO₂ escapes faster. It also contains aspartame and potassium benzoate, which slightly lower surface tension and help bubbles form.

I recall Mythbusters doing a thing on this as well testing other sodas and carbonated things. Diet Cike itself is a part of why there is such an energetic reaction.
