Crispy though!

Kitchen is in a bit of a state now.

Some of these winter Olympic sports are so dangerous - flipping and spinning in the air, riding rails with ski’s, flying down the mountain, the athletes have no fear. It looks so cool but wow one wrong move and ouch.

Even figure skating - the competitors have knife blades bolted onto their shoes. And the ice is hard. I broke my coccyx falling over on an ice rink as a child. And I've seen severed fingers when someone went out of control and crashed into someone else and ran over an outspread hand. Not deliberate, just an unfortunate accident ...

Had a high pain and anxiety day and ended up napping 🫩 It just wasn’t a good one. Gonna load up on ibuprofen and rest some more.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think I'm a lot like you, I don't work 9-5 at a job , I work at home 7 days a week, that means I don't get sick days

I have things to do, like look after cats and household chores, so when I get sick I feel guilty and like a failure if I have to rest or take time off

but everyone gets a few weeks off a year for sick days, no guilt,

and you shouldn't feel bad about it either, it's not a failing to need a day off

so many hugs, take care and rest up

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Yeah, I think I just had to take this day off and hope for a better one tomorrow.

Melbcat got her medication and had food and water which is the most important thing. (She also came in to nap a bit with me and got cuddles and treats)

it's chaos here with the Seagoon's setting up house, it's not just moving, they came here from overseas with just suitcases and they have to buy so much, we're all helping out as much as we can

so I think I'll wait until next week to get this house here in order and I will not worry about it πŸ‘Just doing the necessary like looking after cats

A $32 t-shirt in 2011 is now $52, does that seem reasonable? I don't think I've got $50 t-shirts in the budget.

Hurry up dinner time.

I've got calamari to beer batter and arteries to clog.

You stay away from my arteries, you hear!

I think we may have discussed this before but what is the story behind your username?

Mine was from the other place.

I really want to know what a Seagoon is.

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 7 points 4 days ago

Work related. At the time I set up this account I was peeling around 80kg of potatoes per day.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 7 points 4 days ago

Skateboarding as a kid down multi level car parks and steep roads. Most fun was sitting on our arses and racing that way.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 4 days ago

Mr Woof's and Miss Meow's real names. Which means when anyone here uses my username I have a brief moment of confusion before I realise they are actually referring to me 🀣

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 7 points 4 days ago

Long ago on a different Platform a group of very silly young men were whinging about catfishing. A whole bunch of us changed our display names to Catfish and flooded the daily feed with silly fish related posts. I found it amusing and kept it.

It’s part of a lyric from a song called β€œAll There Is” by my favourite band, Bad Religion.

The lyrics question the human condition in a pessimistic way. Lyrics about the futility of existence, despair, and the pain of living in a world with little substance coupled with high tempo drumming, blistering guitars and three part harmonies. Typical Bad Religion fare…

It came about because one day sitting around the dinner table my daughter said something about her dad being the boss of the house and I said "No I'm the boss. I'm the CEO of this house and your dad is 2IC" and he looked at her and said "It's true. She is the boss". And the name stuck.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago

Just a play on words. I was dumblederp but fuck JK Rowling.

It was very random for me, I just wanted to come up with something quickly that wouldn't be doxable

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago

A friend a very long time ago took my nickname, morphed it and morphed it again until it became Spin, which caught on in my friend group for quite a few years and became my favourite nick name. It's generally taken up on every platform, so I expanded to what it is.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

I had messed up baking a cake earlier in the day, that I was supposed to take as a dessert to a gathering. I had no ideas for a user name so that’ll do.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Mine is very boring. I'm a witch and I live in Thornbury. All my social media usernames are variations on this theme. Would have been worse if I lived in Ipswich. One day I shall re-invent myself, but at present I see no particular need to do so.

That’s enough looking at the news, I’m meant to be taking it easy.

I foresee a night of painsomnia ahead.

Watching cooking videos on youtube (ad free because of browser choice). Right now I’m watching Lovina Zook (an ex-Amish lady) and Life Of Boris (Slav guy) both of who make a lot of simple things from scratch.

WoW keeps filling my hard drive and being unable to finish the constant updates so I’ve temporarily uninstalled it and might look into something else. It’s a shame. I hoped it would interest me enough to justify a cheeky sub from time to time but I’m not really enjoying it.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

good night everyone

sweet dreams 😘

I’m up, and have tidied my flat

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 4 points 4 days ago

Filled in for trivia at a Sporting Globe tonight. I feel like that chain just consumes failing Groove Trains and TGI Fridays but seems to have the sticking power to stay around despite being pretty much the same restaurant

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Threw yoghurt all over the kitchen this morning, felt like a sign to go back to bed. Unfortunately I had to collect a colleague on the way to work, called him to let him know I'd be late with a big ol' glob of yoghurt on my foot.
