Do they exist or do these all just suck uniformly? Ive been mostly filing but sometimes my nails need a good clipping here and there.

Where does one find decent nail clippers? I am at wits end, must I make my own?

first, set up a crucible and drop forge. heat the crucible to 900 °C...

I shoplifted some Revlon ones that have served me well.

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Im too much of a weenie to do something like that but hell yeah.

i use a cuticle trimmer to clip my nails because it allows me to cut them straight. toe nail clippers I think are better overall the smaller finger nail clippers. I have a revlon brand one that ive used for decades now. I get what you mean though, I have a pair of toenail clippers that doesnt work and just crushes the nail 🤔 Its also way more rounded. The ones I use look like they are very sharp. And the small ones dont have enough power / leverage generally

Sidenote for opsec, be cautious about these amazon share links - they've switched to this model using their own link shortener, and it 100% certainly let's them track who shared and who clicked and connect those together.

I know it's the only link you can get out of the mobile app (which obviously already tracks you), but sharing the link with someone else does generate a unique connection for them.

I'd advocate for using a browser and getting the page url (and clipping off the tracking info at the end) whenever possible, especially if you are sharing them through any kind of sensitive or identity-obscured platform. Or obviously using a different vendor when feasible, but I don't think I have to tell anyone here that.

Yeah if I get a short URL from something like that I always put it right into FF first the grab the address from the address bar.

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The url shortener (tracker) will have already done its job if you keep using Firefox for anything amazon after that.

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think he's talking about cases where he is sharing the link. Get link -> drop in Firefox -> get real link -> share that

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ah, I see. I figured this was from a share link button. Amazon usually likes to put its main tracking state in its URLs as you browse, so if I share an Amazon link I always strip it to it's bare product path portion.

Yeah, there is an extra you might need to take which is to remove all the other tracking BS out of the full URL they provide after the short URL. I have an extension in FF that cleans those URLs for me though.

Thanks, good advice

Seki edge has been nice and sharp.

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This brand has been reccomended a few times in this thread, do you reccomend any particular model?

No problem! I would say that one is ideal for fingernails, and it's serviceable for toenails with a good enough angle of approach (which I never have 🤣)

[–] AernaLingus@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Seconding this! I got some as a gift easily over a decade ago and they're still sharp as ever—leagues better than whatever crappy drugstore ones I was using before.

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If I may ask, which model?

[–] AernaLingus@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Oops, forgot to respond to this! It's the same model that was already mentioned, the SS-106.

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 1 points 5 days ago

Thank you!!

wanmat clippers are good, especially if you have any dexterity or nerve issues in your extremities

[–] john_browns_beard@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

I have been looking for a decent set for a very long time, I have very thick nails and every set I've owned (except for one mystery set that I lost, RIP) just shreds my nails if I don't clip them immediately after a shower.

[–] take_five_moments@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

have you tried little nail scissors?

[–] Shaleesh@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Years ago I used to exclusively use the scissors on my multitool but that habit went away when I transitioned and decided that I could have good things sometimes. Havent tried scissors, purpose built or otherwise since then.

All of mine are "fine" and are generic drug store ones.

I've been curious about the Mr green ones since they're inexpensive on AliExpress. Now's your chance to test them for me!

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

I don't know about nail clippers, but I once bought a "Tweezerman" brand blackhead extractor off of Amazon and it snapped mid-pop and I could've stabbed myself in the face with the sharp edges.

[–] TinyMoose@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

I have a some "SZQHT" branded clippers that have a different leverage point from normal style clippers and they work very well.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

Hope it's helpful but here's mine. There's no brand name on them and my mom has had them for years. She must have bought it from a beauty store. These kind are solid and chop any nails.
