Unfortunately this golden retriever coded woman has a job. And no, I am not just excited to be helping. They rarely even give me treats when I do a good job

Hang in there, OP

Work from home husband acts all excited when I get home too because there's someone else finally

My ex wasn’t unemployed, but owned a franchise that he didn’t interact with much day-to-day. He totally could’ve done more for it, but he preferred to stay home and goon all day. Never cleaned, even his own spills in the kitchen and dishes that would pile up by the computer.

Meanwhile I had flight school at the crack of dawn, college classes after, then worked up until 9:30pm. When I came home, he was desperate to socialize while I was desperate to rest and be alone. (Though I usually couldn’t even do that, since I had to clean up after the slob, and do homework on top of that.)

Then he was surprised when I wanted to break up. Hmm.

One of those two is a natural state for a human.

Now I'm going to slink off guiltily before you realize I shat on the living room carpet. In all fairness, the Roomba must bear some of the blame for how things turned out there.

I mean, if you gave a puppy a job, it would probably want some alone time and a beer at the end of the day too.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 13 points 7 hours ago

Puppies also like it if you tell them what a good job they did.

@not_IO@lemmy.blahaj.zone @microblogmemes@lemmy.world

I'm not really into dogs, for they bark and it's exceedingly loud to my hearing.

Similarly, despite being a cat person, cats are playful, while I am not.

And both are overly "petful", and I'm far from docile.

I'd, therefore, label myself... owl coded.

A kind of owl whose sleep time varies, sometimes during night (yes, owls can be diurnal), other times (as I've been for 3 days; it's 4:14AM here as I started concatenating this text) during day.

However, I'm biased towards being awaken during the night, for the night wears this dark dress, this beautiful bright silver pendant which changes shape every week, has these soft dark wings, not to mention how things are (generally) quieter so I can hear when She begins hooting.

Vtuber is hardly a job lol.

[–] Nikki@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

a lot of vtubers make more than you and I combined I'd call that a job

[–] angstylittlecatboy@reddthat.com 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

A lot in the sense that a lot of musicians make more than you. Which is to say, most of the ones you can name make a lot, but many more make nothing.

[–] Nikki@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 hour ago

and musicians still work to make money or at least do it as a side hussle, it doesn't mean it isn't a job like op was implying

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

If a job is only "making money", then what does a open source dev do?

[–] Nikki@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

vtubers get paid for providing entertaient, same as actors and live casters. I don't understand your train of thought

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Added a "only" for clarification.

[–] Nikki@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 21 minutes ago* (last edited 20 minutes ago)

doesn't clarify the point youre trying to make, if vtubers make a living entertaining people then its a job. just because you dont like watching doesn't make that any less true

this is coming from someone that doesn't actively go watch vtubers, if I like the person and what they're streaming and they happen to have an animated avatar I have no issues though

and yeah like music as stated below, its usually a side hussle because you need to be entertaining to make it in the entertainment industry. crazy how that works lol
