Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

For reeeeeal. I liked the fight overall but half of the attempts it took me to beat him had to do with the fucking camera. Had to actively untarget him to not die of seeing nothing but dragon pixels across my screen
I think phase two is pretty good, it's like a proto-Elden Ring boss in that it has a roll catch you need to learn that will fuck you up if you panic roll. Phase one is an absolute disaster though.
Two things that help in that particular fight:
-
When you enter the room, run forward away from the door.
-
Lock on when he goes into the air, unlock when he lands and stand on the left of the dragon's head; you'll be able to see the dragon's attacks and the King's better.
I fought this bastard so many times, that when I finally beat him I did it hitless and to this day is the only boss I consistently manage to beat without taking a hit other than the tutorial bosses. Hell, with the right build, you can one shot the dragon at level 90 with the big black flame fireball spell and just skip the first phase altogether.
I just did this one and came to commwnt this OMFG!!!!!! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
It's fixed on NR thank fuck!
I literally fought him for the first time last week. As someone who heavily relies on lock on, that phase 1 was quite the challenge!! Felt good to beat him tho, now I'm stuck on Frieda...
Hard because big

The hardest boss in the LoP DLC for me yet. The Crocodile? No, the camera in this fight. The Croc immediately pushes you to the side of the small arena and then you only see his belly.
PS: Please no spoilers; I just beat the Overseer.
I hated that boss. I was seriously worried about the DLC after fighting it but luckily I thought the rest of it was generally pretty good. Lots of fun things that I won't get into for obvious reasons. That is not a great early impression for the DLC though.
It's a horrible fight, ngl. I like the idea and "cinematography" of it, ie the way it looks and how the camera zooms out when it charges at you, but it's so annoying to actually play.
How did you like the Overseer fight?
I did not really have time to appreciate it. I summoned Alidoro with the Trumpet, he gave me, and we ganked him. This was the first time I ever summoned in LoP, but he gave me a custom summoning item and I wanted to see what the real Alidoro is made of.
I’m probably going to fight the Overseer in the Boss Rematch feature after I beat the DLC.
Yea, it made the game quite a lot easier. But it's a story summon, so I didn't mind it too much since the boss didn't seem suuper exciting anyways. Rematch sounds like a good idea!
Someone explain to me what "Auto-Wall Recovery" actually does? Because the camera hitting a wall seems to behave exactly the same with it on or off. I want the camera to clip through walls and have the walls derender over it getting pushed into my rectum while the boss is also pushing into my rectum.
Auto-Wall Recovery
has nothing to do with derendering obstacles/walls. It rotates your camera away from walls, when it thinks the camera has hit a wall.
Or, to put it more simply, it makes you think your right stick has stick-drift, when it doesn't.
I swear I've never even heard of that. Is that some kinda option helping you with these weird camera angles?
I really don't know! It's an option in the camera tab for all of Fromsoft's games (even the non-souls ones) and I have no idea what it is meant to be doing because, as previously stated, it appears to behave the same no matter what it is set to.
